Default Full exhuast or E cut out?? Your thoughts.......

Any thoughts on this one guys?

I want to keep the car as quiet as possible and thought the E cut out would be the best with a stock exhuast.

Some say just get a full 3" exhuast and with boost it is pretty quiet still.

If Ecut out:

Which brand do you guys recommend?

If exhaust:

Which one is best?

Thanks.

i have a 3" dp with 3" cutout and a stock exhaust. i never get hassled by cops.

the good:
-no police attention
-my ears dont hurt from driving in the car
-i can flip a switch and gain like 100hp when i boost
-it freaks people out when i open it up next to them then hit 1 bar and roll out
-it sounds mean as hell

the bad:
-im always having to take it off and tighten something on the cutout
-every once it a while it will not work, kinda got a mind of its own, leading to what i just said about taking it off
-it does cover the bottom of my car with carbon
-you have to position it just right on a lowered car or youll bottom it out and knock it apart, ive done it before
-my car is an absolute dogg with it closed.

im doing another setup for next year. i wanted a full 3" turboback, but even that will be kinda loud, at least to the point where ill draw cops attention and kinda get bad looks in the parking lot at work. right now im almost thinking another cutout, but maybe a 2.25" exhaust to give a tiny bit more power with it closed. i use the dmh ecutout btw, they have great customer service. just make sure to secure the motor somehow and maybe take it apart and use red loctite on the bolts before you install it the first time and youll be good to go

I have seen very little gains with e-cutout compared to a full 3" exhaust. 3" Flat black vibrant muffler ftw

i feel ya Urugly, im in cali too. i have the 3" DMH cut-out and i love it. worth the 189 shipped from summit, DMH warranties the motor for life!

i wont be goin to the state ref anytime soon for a BS exhaust ticket. no more hard stares from the law.

When you dynoed with exhaust, were you running a cat? I know I didnt lose 40 hp going to 3in. exhaust w/no cat

I'm currently running a 3 inch turbo-back exhaust,no cats or resonators, to a Dynomax Ultraflow straight-thru 3 inch muffler.

It's quiet for what it is, but still too loud for my tastes.

Next season I'm going with a 2.5 inch exhaust to a chambered muffler, with either a mechanical dump or just a blockoff plate I can remove for the track.

I dynoed with no cat and the 3 inch thermal first and then next pull was with the cutout open.

psh i just broke my dmh cutout...i bought it used off of someonen else motor broke off the 2 screws...i was planning on making some sort of bracket to hold the motor farther out from the torque sorce...almost making a cover to go over the entire motor structure to reinforce it...mine worked awesome until the vibration killed it and the screws got torqued off.....aside from that i love my 3" cutout...helps w/ my whole sleeper effect since i run a stock exh....in my whip we have 2 modes....normal and racecar (open dp)....its nice to scare vets...and ill tell you one thing... a properly open dp setup will beet any 3" stock exh...a 4" would be ideal...but not everyones a balla

IMO I would go with full exhaust...less attention and still BIG power. What car will it be going in? I have a 3" full cat-back exhaust for sale with a 3" MagnaFlow Muffler if you need it. Let me know what car and maybe I can help ya out.

you know i got a lil ghetoo today and almost did the same thing...but i think im gonna fab up my mounting system...because w/ all my vibrations from solid mounts & 4 puck unsprung clutch...it sees a lot of vibrating forces...and where the mounting pts for the motor are are just to close to the center of torque...move it farther out and less force will have to be applied to hold the motor in place...im really just sick of the plate vibrating because there isnt a motor in there heh
