Default full boost

when should i hit full 15psi boost on a ls motor. i ask this because before i blew up my car it wouldn't make full 15psi till redline. i am wondering why it was doing this.... i have a drag gen 111 kit. safc hack w/450cc 225lph pump turbo xs manual boost controller. i was told that i should of had full boost by around 4500 rpm....that is when mine started to kick in and set you back

I think what vtecsiqt was saying is that his car didn't start to build boost till 4500. We though it should have been well into boost by 4500.

Also, providing some good source of timing retard (hondata or msd btm) what is a safe level of boost to run on 93 octane? Help save a block

On stock internals ? *LOL* Good lord !! Kiss your block GOODBYE @15 psi ! Safe on a LS stock motor is 5-7!
I think you still have much to learn.

What he is trying to say is that the stock ls can handle more than 5-7psi, it can easily hold 10psi with the right fuel and tuning safley, and i have seen stock LS run 22psi with just a lower compression head gasket and block gaurd.

Can someone tell me how to scar my "cylinder walls" with a block guard that goes on the outside of the sleeves? I also need some help learning how to capitalize every 5th word in my sentences to make it clear to readers that I am vastly more intelligent than they are.

Thanks in advance.

Well for a short period of time 283 whp @ 15 psi (303 w/no air cleaner) on a stock LS motor.... It would be nice to find a way to keep that reliably.... Maybe a spacer & some timing retard?

Well thats NOT the question now is it...The orginal Thread says SAFELY ! Which if you know the LS block and turbos...5-7 psi is SAFE ! Sure 10psi hell even 15 ! But SAFELY ? Uhhh I don't care who tunes it ....it aint SAFE at 10+psi on STOCK internals....And who the hell in their right mind would RAM a BLOCKGURAD down into a block which SCARS the CRAP out of your cylinder walls ! POORMANS sleeving that's who...Where I come from we do things RIGHT...To each their own...Good luck on your BLOCKGUARD and prayers....

Lets line em up and run em 10-15 times straight see who blows what first !

what? there was a guy here on H-T that was running upwards of 18-19 psi, SAFELY.

how much truth there is to that i dont know, but with enough tuning you can accomplish anything.of course that would'nt be stock though.

for some reason the hack would only throw the engine light on in 4th & 5th gear. No idea why. I rode in it a couple of time in 1,2, & 3rd gear @ 15PSI and no engine light. Not sure why it didn't come on then.

not to be rude but we have taken ls and b20 blocks up to 18 lbs on race gas and 12 on pump gas on many, many many coustomers cars and they have been driving around like that for 3+ years now, it's all about the fuel !!!

stock BLOCKS (DOHC) WILL hold up 22lbs on Vtec and 18 on LS/B20
even run stock sleves on our race car and had 618whp which lasted about 2 months of races each weekend !!!

Ok dumb dick, you need to lose the attitude first and foremost. Second, there are plenty of us who are running 10+ psi on a stock b18b. Im running 12 psi, and as a matter of fact i did 10-15 pulls on the dyno. made some good damn power. So I agree with 93LSivic, You have a lot of learning to do buddy.

Problem is, once you pass about 10 or 11psi, the voltage the stock map sensor puts out will stop increasing. This means the fuel stops increasing. If you were trying to run more than that, every time you pass 10or11 your motor shoots straight to lean. Almost definatly why it blew the first time. Set your boost controller to 10psi, retard your timing a few degrees from stock, and the motor will live a long happy life.

i want to get a b18b w/ turbo so what would i need to run 15psi (on regular pump gas) and have it be reliable for 3+ years also

The right fuel set up, lower compression with a good head gasket, and tons of tuning.

good move.
anyway, its possible you had a boost leak somwhere that is what was causing it to not real full boost till redline.
you sure the boost controller was hooked up right?

not saying that it is not possiable and you can'tbe reliable but it is safer to run around 10-12lbs on pump gas, I had run 14.5 lbs on pump gas for about 2-3 weeks but also i was using a rich fuel map but about running 15 lbs straight for 3+ years on pump gas , Iam not sure how reliable that would be, on an Ls
and the 22lbs on race gas was with stock timming and a t3/t4e turbo .57 trim
with an equal length cooks manifold /and 47mm Tial wastegate for about 6-8 months and before that I had used a t3/t4e turbo .54 trim on a crap drag manifold with delta gate, but the reason i had used the drag was that I had it from along time ago before we started making manifolds and other parts.

St00pid and his 20 PSI stock block LS......just for reference for all the retards. No the HP isn't great , but 20psi is 20psi.
