What's the worst thing that could happen if your fuel pump fails?

If the fuel pump fails when you're driving around normally, the car would most likely shut off...much like if you ran out of gas. If you are getting on it when the pump fails, you will lean out and could have a catastrophic engine failure...that's the worst possible outcome
