Fuel pressure is too high...
I have a LS motor with drag turbo with the vortech fmu and a walboro 255 high pressure. I got a fuel pressure gauge today to check my pressure, cause I figured if it was high, it would explain some of the problems I'm having. I checked it and saw 56 PSI AT IDLE!!!! Which, of course, is too high. What would cause it to be this high at idle? And how can I lower it, I don't have an AFC or anything like that. So what should I do? Thanks
Buy a AEM fuel pressure regulator to lower the idle fuel pressure.you will need to install the largest oraface that comes with it.The high pressure pump is what caused your fuel pressure to jump at idle....or you can go ghetto and drill a hole in the stock fpr to drain some of the pressure instructions are at http://www.theoldone.com look under fuel pressure mod..
The B&M is just a fuel pressure riser it will not lower your fuel pressure.I had one before i bought my AEM....the reason the fuel pressure goes up is because the fuel pump flows to much fuel for the stock regulator (the b&m uses the stock lower 1/2).....since it cant return enough fuel it raises the fuel pressure...
I got my B&M to get down into the 20's but that was with the stock/inline pump set up. I have a walbro now and the lowest I can get it is 38 psi. The B&M will lower pressure lower than stock.
