Fuel Gurus chime in! E/C/Q
Why do a majority of people go with e85 over the q or c16? I can understand one variable would be the price. However I cant help but to think of how much more power can be made running one of the 2 over the E because of the consumption of fuel required by the e? Explaint please!

Changing from leaded race gas to ethanol based fuel (e98 in my case) was a combination of cost, less toxic than dealing with leaded fuel, supports huge power, and the added bonus of chemical cooling effect.
If on a conventional race fuel, you can also pickup a little power retuning on ethanol.
The only downside for me was the need for a larger fuel system (I was about at the limit of my previous fuel setup anyways). Pair of 044 pumps, -8AN feed to rail, and going from ID1000's to ID2000's fixed that (already had a Weldon regulator, larger rail, etc.).

C16 allows for more ignition timing and boost pressure over pump gas which is why you make more power. Q16 will pick up power over C16 because its oxygenated and Ethanol will pick up power over both and run cooler because its alchohol, it requires more fuel system but in the long run is a lot cheaper to run. Depending on injectors that are being ran you either have to run the car on a schedual to kep the injectors from seizing because alchohol dryes them out and pulls in moisture which causes rust in certain injectors. OR you can pickle the system by draining the alchohol and running the car on pump gas for a few minutes to treat the system

haha yall are crazy, I had some "turbo blue" in my r1, I blew it up at the track and got the bike home and had it torn apart before my girlfriends birthday party. Well long story short half tank of it, sitting on the work bench, drunk people in a attached three car garage, with all hvac going through the garage, and somone spilled the tank, 4:30 in the morning woke up with a headache that lasted a week, thought I had a tumor or something haha.

That might not be a bad idea
Meth injection is just easier for me. I can pickup a 55 gallon drum for 140 and make my own blends from there, maybe even experiment with mixing methanol with pump 93 as a primary fuel... m50 or something lol

And speaking of off. I have a can of U4 we run in our liter superbikes laying around and it has a tiny bit left in it. Like enough to put in an empty spray/cologne bottle... VP racing fuels for men

I've had a coworker (Chemist) fully break down the FTW purple fuel. I know exactly what is in it and what had to be done to get the different chemicals to work together.

Believe it or not, it's stuff that you can get at your general hardware store.
Try it yourself. Put e85/98 in a graduated cylinder then add pump gas to it. What happens?

It separates. Specific gravity is a bitch lol
So about FTW, any truth to the drama around the fuel?
I thought about putting some through gcms

Tepid leaned me in the direction of e85 from ignite. I like the price and its consistent blending. C85 from vp would make more power but its 10 a gallon

Just started getting stations here in tampa. I must say, the convenience of pulling up to the pump on high boost and slicks in a racecar and paying 3.25 a gallon is second to none. Its consistency @ 85!% is quite impressive as well. Thorntons ftw

The window of margin on FTW is small. Most have to run rich as hell to keep their motors from blowing apart.
Personally, I'd go with something else.

It just isn't worth the cost imo... if I were bracket racing at the highest level and needed every last ounce of power then sure but when I can get 55 gallons of methanol for 144 local to supplement pump 93.... you do the math

Re: Fuel Gurus chime in! E/C/Q
I'd be using it for my methanol injection system to supplement my main fuel, e10 93 octane... although I have found a few stations that sell ethanol free fuels (not real clear on the advantage of one or the other) although I guess I could try pump 93/methanol blends... just have to find an agent to bind the two together instead of having two different fuels floating around the tank in an inconsistent mixture, like oil and water
Street driving on methanol would require such a loose motor setup and a serious ignition system, not to mention blowby contamination of engine oil from the loose p2w and ring gaps for a methanol motor. also I think I a custom, designated cam profile would be needed not to mention the fuel system modifications needed.
And you can't exactly pull up to a pump to refuel lol
One can dream haha
