Fuel Flow for Thought

Fuel Flow for Thought
I just found this interesting and thought I'd share.
When building an FI setup on our Hondas, we think we're all big and bad with our 255 liters per hour fuel pump and our 1000 cc/minute injectors.
Here's some numbers from what Nitromethane dragsters run for fuel delivery:
A top fuel dragster is about 8.2 liters and at idle consumes about 10,000 cc/min of fuel. That is 1,250 cc/min for each cylinder.
At pedal to the metal, the 8.2 liter monster consumes about 210,000 cc/min of fuel, which translates to 26,250 cc/min for each cylinder. What does a 30,000 cc/min injector look like?!
The two fuel pumps on the dragsters each pump about 13,200 liters per hour of fuel. I thought my 255 lph pump was loud...couldn't imagine that.
I saw a demonstration video on TV of what the fuel flow for one cylinder of a top fuel dragster looks like at idle and at WOT. I couldn't stop laughing...at WOT it looked like someone stuck a garden hose inside the cylinder.

Remember that post about the dragster and the vette? I don't know who created it, but it was pretty interesting.
There were alot of facts about the dragster. . .

Don't worry, you don't have to. As soon as the dragster starts up, you can't hear them anymore
