Fuel Delivery problem
Help!
BACKGROUND: 1991 CRX HF, stock 10gal fuel tank, Walbro 190ltr/per hr. fuel pump, new fuel filter, RC 550 injectors, STR 68mm Throttle body, JRSC w/9psi boost on a fresh 2.0liter B18C1, HONDATA piggyback ECU and tuned/dynode at Church Automotive. All parts except the gas tank are less than 1 year old and have fewer than 3,000 miles on them.
PROBLEM: At Streets of Willow last Sunday, COMPLETELY filled the tank 6 miles before arriving at the track. 6 laps in to the first session, approx. 50 yards after turns 3 and 9 (and sometimes turn 5 -which are the only three left-handed turns on that track); my car would either shutter, or come close to dieing with the check engine light coming on. What I did was turn the ignition key off to position #1, wait a second, turn to position #2 to re-prime the electric fuel pump, let off the clutch to restart the engine and the car would accelerate normally until just after the next left handed turn when taken at speed. Thinking that I did not fill the tank, I went back for gas, my car took only 2.7gallons of gas (after running the full first session: 24 miles) and fuel was spilling out from the fuel neck. Went back to the track, 5-6 laps in to session #2 it all started happening again…
I believe that it is a fuel delivery problem (maybe at the pick-up in the tank?...) Car runs strong and does not skip a beat on straight-aways and hard right hand turns. Do I need to change to a 12 gallon Si tank, or, modify the pick-up tube at the bottom of the tank?
ANY HELP?...
