Default Frozen Ring...

So I did a Compression Check i came out
cyl#1 170
Cyl#2 170
Cyl#3 170
Cyl#4 140

Im getting a lot of blow by in the high rpms and a lot of oily residue I also have a really glassy oil on my dipstick no presence of water however which is good.
I know this could mean that my ringlands are bad but how can you tell if there bad.
I got this engine used and it sat for a good minute in the garage before it was put in. I know that if moisture gets in the cylinder and it starts to corrode this will damage the rings upon start up of the motor. Thats what I think the problem is. how is there any way to tell what the the actual prognosis is. All my other pistons are good if the ring is bad then thats a easy fix but how the hell am I supposed to replace one piston.

In my opinion you can't. Pull the piston out. Some signs are smoke from your breather, and whats your idle like, is there a noticeable miss? A leak down test can give you some information, but more then likely i doubt you'll be able to tell if its rings or ring lands, with it still in the car. HOwever, if you can, i'm all ears Do a valve lash just to rule that issue out too.

If the ringlands are cracked they will be physically cracked. If they are not cracked then the problem is poor ring seal, which is the more likely problem.

Does it really matter if its the ringlands or rings, if you dive in the engine, might as well replace all of it. But if your willing just to replace one, just wait till you pull it out and just go to http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com should be quick to order parts.

Only sure way to check w/o pulling the piston out is a leak down test. Leak down testers arent that expensve, or a good shop should be able to do one for you.

I am looking for a piston rod combo that are already pressed. So I have to do is drop them in. Im leaving for overseas soon and we train every week now so My time with the car is limited. I don't have time to take my block to the shop with the pistons. If I cant find a good deal by October Im just going to replace the rings with all the gaskets...
