Default Frontmount install question

I installed my front mount and its hanging damn low. This is a 94 integra GSR. I had to make brackets so it would bolt to the bumper support and it sits under it. Its hanging like two inches below the front bumper. Is that right? Is it suppose to go under the front bumper support or in front of it?

under the support is correct but any fmic over 7'' tall installed without modifying the support is gonna hang below the bumper i had the same problem my intercooler is 9'' i trimmed off about 2 inches across the support mid section for it to fit right

What kind of brackets did you use?

wow nice people giving me feed back.

Ok the intercooler is a XS ENGINEERING intercooler off of there power max turbo kit. Ill get the measurments. Inlet and oultlet are on the sides at the bottom. I made brackets for it. It has one flange on each side to bolt up to something and one on top in the middle. I have one picture and its bad but here it is.

You know you can put the FMIC on the other side so the brackets won't show as bad...unless the inlet and outlet are different sizes. There are simple ways to mount it a little higher than it is already. Use your ingenuity bro.

you need to cut out the bumper and mount it higher.

Get a different IC. Better now then later, when a speed bump busts open your nice XS one. Don't want to drag that **** over a driveway, now, do you?

I had my rebar removed in order to fit my IC in. Even then, I had to install an ITR lip in order to cover up the bottom part of it.

Just do what Project X did....remove the front bumper support and you should be able to move it up. Even though the brackets don't line up to the radiator support, make a bracket using an "L" brace (found at HOmeDepot or Lowe's). LIke I said...use some ingenuity to make that FMIC work and look good.

I also had to remove the front bumper suport, but then again, this Precision intercooler is huge.
I had to make custom brackets to go from the bumper support bolts to the side of the intercooler. Kind of an L with a twist.

That's why an installer has to modify or fabricate mounting brackets....no matter what brand FMIC it may be. Remember, when turbocharging a Honda/Acura, there is no such thing as an "EASY" button.
