Default Forced Induction Engine Life

SC and TC

im not looking to really beef up my car...i just want to add significant horsepower and boost...but im a daily driver and would rather not charge at all if it will greatly reduce the engine life in the long run...i know they stress engines more..and i know the engine life will reduce toa certain extent simply because it just comes with the territory of charging..but whats my best bet for durability, reliability, and engine life?...

im actually going to go with a turbo..and stop being a little B*tch about it..the only reason i was hesitant is beacuse of the maintenance required..also because of the horror stories of people blowing their engines due to high levels of boost...

can anybody recomend some of the best turbo kits for a civic si 2000?

also..maybe some books/manuals/magazines on turbo tuning..

thanx

that pretty much nails it, its all in the tuning and the way you drive. I've been threw many turbo cars manily dsm's, and never once blow a motor, people tend to over boosting, have improper fuel management, or lack needed parts or just boost a car without the basics of changing old pats like timing belts, head gasket or just a decent tune up etc. i seen it all boosted ef's with b series swap reving at 10 grand, withe no type of aftermarket valvetrain. and wonders why he floats his vavles. just in all common sense and Patience is the key. and as for turbo kits, drag has a pretty decet one, or rev hard.

If I wanted a kit I would go with full-race, maybe fab works, there are some other good ones, but you WILL want to have more power someday and these kits will get you there. If I were to do it again I would read some books THEN come on here and read a lot of posts, THEN ask specific topical questions. As for books, Corky Bell's "Maximum Boost" is really good for nubz like u and me. Also, I have started reading Ben Strader's book and it seems to be pretty good. Check those out. Gimme a pm if you need a little advice, I will help if I am able. GL.
