i used to be under the assumption that aluminum flywheels were terrible, but i have never known anyone that had a problem with them ,and i havent had one either......its great, i have one on both my cars....one is a boosted d16a6 hatch, the other is an NA sohc.....love light flywheels.

I have a 12 lbs. resurfaced and balanced Type R flywheel in my LS right now. My turbo loves it, but my gas mileage hates it. Oh well, it's a small price to pay for some occasional "spirited" driving.

I am using a stock flywheel. I drove a car with and 8.5lb flywheel and i like it alot. I would recommend an 8.5lb.

The belief that if a flywheel is too light, you lose torque is wrong. If you want to know why, do a search, it has been covered many times.
A more valid concern is that aluminum FW's can shatter with heavy abuse so if you have that in mind, a chromoly one might be better.
However, if you insist that too light a FW is bad, go w/ one of the ACT FW's. They're reasonably priced and have two weights to choose from. I'd suggest to stay away from the Japanese flywheels just because they cost almost twice as much and some of them have starter engagement problems.
I personally have a Fidanza and it's great. I like the fact it has an clutch surface insert that I can replace if I damage it. That way I don't have to buy an entirely new flywheel if something goes wrong.

No it doesn't. None of the chromoly fw's have inserts. The aluminum fw's only have inserts because aluminum does not make a very good friction surface.
IMO FW's have gotten so cheap, even the replaceable friction surface isn't that big of a deal anyways. You can get both chromoly and aluminum FW's under 200 nowadays.

And now you couldn't be more wrong.. The vicious circle of Honda-Tech
For B-series if you dont want aluminum - get an ITR.. If not - ACT pro-lite.

ACT - inexpensive, one piece forged chromoly steel I have installed tons of these. everyone loves em.
i run a stock one however. I was hoping it would make my unsprung 6 puck a little more streetable and i'm a cheap ***.

ACT is inexpensive and SFI 1.1 certified. The car is a lot harder to drive when you go into the single digit weights. I had a JUN ultralight in the past and that was a bitch to drive especially with the AC on.
