First time to the track boosted...!!!!
The other night I made my first trip to the track since my turbo was installed... I ran in full street trim with 15" BFG drag radials on stock 98+ GSR wheels in the front... I am currently running 6.5psi... My first pass was a 14.5 @97 mph... My second pass was 14.6 @ 97... My third and final race in which I raced Flamenco-T was a 14.3 @97 mph...
My 14.3 run...
.807
2.251
6.123
9.278
78.46
12.003
14.306
97.94
My mods are: T3/T04E with Pann Auto manifold and tial 35mm wastgate with .45 bar spring... I have 12:1 fmu with MSD inline fuel pump, turbo XS bov... Stock internals and stock clutch on 6.5 psi... Also my car weighed in at 2665 lbs with me in it... I think I could've done better, but I didn't want to launch the BFG's at too high of rpm cause I didn't want to rape the clutch... My main goals for the first time to the track was to make three clean passes without missing a gear and have my car running and make it home in one piece... ... I am pleased though I know there's room for improvement... Tell me what you think...

Your 60' sucks for DR's, but you admitted why that was. Your 1/8 is ok, but my no means great. The MPH at the 1/8 is very good for that ET. Your 1000' is good. The ET is ok, and your MPH at the end of the track sucks bad. Maybe you're forced to shift to 4th after the 1000'?
YOur car is really falling on its face up top though, whats the dilly? DOes your car have a knock sensor? If so i'd bet your knocking up top, unless your 4th gear is that doggy. Work on it, tune it. Get rid of that FMU and you should see your mpy catch up.

Re: First time to the track boosted...!!!! (danl)
I think my mph was so low and consistent because of the dr... It does however feel like it's not pulling as hard as it could up top... I do still need to get it on a dyno and see what #'s it puts down... I may also invest in a SAFC to help control some fuel... My next main goal and priority is to get it on the dyno... After that I'll be purchasing Hondata, but that's a couple of months down the road... ...

No worries! Everyone does bad the first time back to the track with new mods, especially turbo. Keep practicing and you will be able to get the low 13 slips.

Re: First time to the track boosted...!!!! (Chrome Pipes)
I'm running a 2.5" downpipe into free-flow cat and Greddy SP full cat-back... ... I wanna sell this exhuast and make a custom 2.5" all the way back with an Apexi N1 muffler... Would this be worth it if I also did a str8 2.5" testpipe...?
The turbo has a .60 A/R compressor with 57 trim wheel and .48 A/R exhuast housing... 4 bolt flange if that matters, with no ac...

it was smart not to push it w/ the stock clutch. I wanted u too, but, hehe, its probably best u didn't. I think the bfg's were part of the reason for the low trap speed. They cause alot of drag up top and I think ur right at the power level where they may effect mph at the end of the track. I was happy with ur 14.3, there is still lots of room for improvement and you have only cracked into the potential of the set up. start w/ opening up the exhaust, a heavy duty clutch, and some tuning you will be surprised how much those 3 things will make a difference.

Get a clutch next and you should do better. How long have you had the turbo on? Because my clutch started slipping after 3 months with my turbo. Also, I'd go with a 3" exhaust; there's just more top end with a 3". Post your next runs or dynos if you get any!

Re: First time to the track boosted...!!!! (DIRep)
Congrats D!
I got out there around 11:30-12:00 and ran twice.
Run 1: 18.5
No traction all the way through 3rd gear...had a 3.2 60" LOL. I left off half way down the track and just cruised the rest of the way.
Run 2: 14.75
Still no traction on my street tires but 60" went to 2.4. Only problem was this was my last run of the night . Something broke or a bolt came loose about half way down the track...have not gone to the garage yet to check everything because I had to go out of town early Sat. morning. Basically, my turbo will not boost at all and I get a nasty fluttering sound when it does try to boost and my idle is double of what it should be. I hope I can find a loose or missing bolt to tighten. See you tomorrow morning Espanol!
Anyway way to go man! Those were pretty good runs considering how freaking cold and hard the track was!

Hey 99 B18B,
Nice job fella. By looking at your numbers, I don't think it fell on its face on the topend at all. Everything looks very much up to par to me. Nice job! And, it'll only get better.
Take care,
Mick

Why not go for a 3" piping?

Re: First time to the track boosted...!!!! (99 B18B)
Well I had the Tanabe RM on my car, then I switched to MKTeller8's 3" piping, 3" ES oval muffler painted black, and it made a big difference. I only have a GReddy 15g on my car too. I got pics posted on is GB:

I say go with the 3" system. I plug it cuz Mike is a good seller, and it's changed my whole outlook on exhaust systems.

dustin,
nice times
i only pulled a best of 14.21 @ 104.26 MPH on 10 PSI of boost, stock exhaust, stock clutch
get yourself on jotech's dyno!
you are driving very well and you should have no problems with low 13's with a higher boost setting
i can't wait to get back to dallas for spring break and hang out with you and stan and the rest of the crew in DFW

Re: First time to the track boosted...!!!! (JCushing)
the .48ar spools extremely fast. even w/ a 2 1/4 exhaust, high flow cat and no boost controller his .48 gets into boost about 500rpms faster then my .63 w/ 3" exhaust, test pipe, and boost controller.
