Default Finding 60 degrees BTDC

Will I be able to accurately find 60 degrees BTDC on a B18C without a degree wheel?
Will any degree wheel fit on our engines?

thanks
Ben

You could prob figure it out if you measured the circumference of the crank pulley and plotted where 180, 90, 60 degrees are by dividing the circumference by 2, 4,6 respectively.

But a degree wheel would be much more accurate. Why do you need to find 60* BTDC anyways?

I need it for doing a distributor mod for installing my Autronic SM2.

Anyone have any suggestions on a degree wheel that is easy to install on our engines? They all seem to have the one hole in the center which doesn't look like it'll jive well with the recessed bolt on the crank pulley.

thanks
Ben

As promised...sorry it took so long. I had to go through a couple of months worth of archived pics to find them.

This is back when I degreed my ITR cams in around November when I put in the manifold and gauges.

Setting up the indicator.

This is what you're interested in: Mr Gasket 9" degree wheel. I bought it from Summit a year or so ago for around $30 I think. If you need the part number, I can dig it up for you. I think I still have the invoice.

Random pic from the collection.

This is why you need the 9" degree wheel. The 11" Summit wheel I have won't clear the AC bracket/mount, so it only gets used on the engine stand.

The pointer. It's fabbed from copper wire: snipped to length and sharpened on a bench grinder. It goes together with the degree wheel and piston stop in the kit I put together.

I ended up using a 9" Crane Cams wheel and it worked fine.

I have a question though...Hondas spin backwards (counterclockwise), correct?
So BTDC on the degree wheel is actually after TDC?

Also- instead of making a pointer I used the pointer on the timing belt cover.

Thanks.

Yeah. You kind of have to mirror image it in your head.

I only use the TDC and BDC marks and intuitively know which way side of the degree wheel to look at for BTDC, ATDC, BBDC, etc. based upon which way the engine turns. I figure out the current stroke/cycle just by looking at the cam gears.
