Ok the IC is a Greddy type 24...(the big one) basically had to chop up the bumper support.
I painted the IC with ULTRA flat black Krylon spray paint.
I first cover the fins with a card board so only the end tanks and body of the IC was exposed. I did that because i knew i would be putting more paint on the body than the fins itslef.
Once the body was done, i misted the fins with the same paint, spraying as far as possible. You cant see it from the pictures but the fins are barely painted.
As far as efficency goes when painting the IC, there has been so many debates about this. Ive been running may car hard after the break in and when i touch the IC its steel cold. SO i dont know...i havent had any problems with it and know dozens of people with it painted also...
here are some pix- i'll try to get one with my bumper on during the day.
enjoy....
Notice how i didnt paint the opening of the IC...i figured it was going to be covered up by the couplings anyways.

looks good marc!!
damn i didn't know you had such a puny wg spring
i would have let you use my old wg with a .45 bar spring. oh well, just make a manual boost controller

so i take it you use 2 slimline fans right? if you did, i should have done that instead of buying the dual fans which didn't fit ... grrrr.
btw, what kind of guages are those?

cramerox, that is sweet man. glad u got it done.
btw, how long did you break in the car for?
and what kinda intercooler piping did you use? can't you run like 6-7 psi w/ that setup? you are probably running rich w/ just that amount of boost.

damn... I love his car. Its the perfect sleeper with the black intercooler. You don't even notice the intercooler unless you knew the war was turboed and was looking for the intercooler
Looks good man, let us know how the IC painting works out in the long run. I've got a Type 24 as well and was considering painting it. I talked to people at HKS-USA and Spearco, they both said that a light mist of paint on the fins would be ok. Anodizing would be ok too. Maybe I'm just paranoid but when guys follow my wife around asking about the turbo it kinda freaks me out. Time to go incognito.
