filter resticts boost/?

filter resticts boost/?
can the filter that goes on the turbine effect the amount of boost you are capable of getting?, because my waste gate is set at 10 psi, but until red line i've only been able to take it to about 3-5 psis max. anyone any imput about this?

It depends on the filter setup...
When I first put my turbo on I put a screen and a piece of fleece over my turbo intake and it would only boost like 4-5psi... then I took the fleece off there and put a filter on and whoa! 8 psi and much better spool characteristics..
If the filter is really small, clogged, or poorly designed, it could choke the turbo and not allow it to boost to its potential.
Either that or you have a boost leak somewhere.

thanks guys for you imput, it turs out that one of the bolts from the flange to the manifold fell out. nothing a couple of lock washes can't fix.. weeeee. thanks abunch guys.
