Dunno what they are like now, but ZEX plugs when they first came out would break in half for no reason. QUALITY, son.
Run steel electrode NGK 1 to 2 steps colder than stock depending on your power level. Anything else is a waste of time. Steel electrode plugs are dyno proven to make more power than platinum or iridium *unless* you have a weak coil... in which case you still don't make as much power as steel electrode plugs with a strong coil.
Platinum = 60-100K mile longevity for slow stock ****. Do you want slow stock ****?

OT, but where do you get steel electrode plugs? I'm assuming that the OEM NGK's are copper - the ones that most people run?

I've seen a case where it was doing this and ended up being the clutch, but it wasn't noticable at first. It would kind of slip, grab, slip, grab over and over and you couldn't reallly tell it was slipping. Finally I drove the car, took it up a steep hill and mashed the gas in a high gear and got it to slip completely. If it isn't the clutch then I would also have to agree that its probably the ignition.

Re: feels like im pulling a house! (SOHC_MShue)
what gaskets did you replace maybe you should check your exhasut manifold and intake manifold, make sure those are tight, what happens after 3k does the problem clear up, if so then yes its your ignition. If not, I know cracked blocks dont hold power like that, looks like nothing is wrong then but when you get to a certiain RPM its like you dont have a engine. but these were all cars stil revving to 6k before the problem presentes itself, My guess is you forgot to tighten something or replace a hose.

Re: feels like im pulling a house! (synik)
if it is your ignition that is faulty, it might feel like the car is "sputtering"/not pulling below 2-3k rpms.. the turbo would still spool as you described. did you put the spark plugs in snug? plug wires back in the correct firing order?
my beater crx was sputtering below 2500RPM's, i pulled the plugs and one of them wasn't even in tight, also one of the rubber gromets was broken on a spark plug wire. changed the plugs and wires, problem went away.
get some damn NGK spark plugs, like another member said. get a step colder NGK's and then you won't have to worry about it, they aren't expensive either. id rather change them out once in a while then pay 4x the amount for some platinum plugs. also don't forget to gap your spark plugs!
good luck!
