A/F gauge install question????
I'm sort of confuse. I have a 00 SI and wHen I install my a/f gauge I hook the sender wire to the ground wire of the primary 02 sensor at the header. The weird thing is that I was suppose to hook it up to the white wire (02 signal). I tried all the wires but the black one worked. When I hook it to the black wire the a/f gauge jumps back and forth between lean and rich. At WOT the meter goes rich. WHen I hook it up to the white wire the meter jumps around, sometimes at rich and sometimes at lean. It doesn't bounce back and forth between lean and rich.
Just wondering what wire did most people hook the a/f gauge too and what are you guys seeing.
Thanks

You really should have done a search for this but I guess your lazy so I'll answer anyway. When I was running a FMU, my A/F bounced around a hell of a lot. Once I went with a standalone, it started to even out a little. You didn't run a wire all the way to the O2 sensor... did you? I hooked it into the O2 sensor via the ECU and grounded to the ECU bolt and ran the accessory power wire to my cigarette lighter power wire. It should bounce around a lot since your most likely using a FMU (hack job) which I would be willing to bet is a rising rate one. Maybe this helps?
First of all thanks. The instruction says to tap it to the 02 signal. Yes I did run a wire all the way to the 02 sensor at the header. It shouldn't make a difference. My concern was that when I hook the sender wire to the 02 - wire my a/f bounces between lean and rich (seeing two lights at the same time). WHen I let go of gas it will go lean and at WOT it goes rich. Isn't this what it suppose to be for cars with 2 02 sensor. WHen I hook the sender wire to the 02 signal, I only see one light but it bounces from rich to lean to stoich. I don't know whether I should keep the sender wire at the 02 - or 02 + wire. Hooking the wire at the -02 wire seems to working okay.
