Default external wastegate question

i have a question about external waste gates and waste gates in general, when a turbo has an internal wastegate such as mitsubishi 16g's and you can control when they open with an MBC correct ? but when you have an external wastegate, is there no need for an MBC? because i hear all this stuff about spring pressures in the waste gate, for example if I specify the spring to be at 10psi then is that the same as setting your MBC to actuate the internal gate at 10psi? IF i get a wastegate with a certain psi spring , i cant boost higher then that until i replace the spring in the wastegate? am i understanding this right ?

You can still run a BC with the external. the BC will manipulate the signall that is sent to the wastegate and open it at the desired time specified with the BC. Get it?
