Default Exhaust question for FI

Im installing a turbo kit on my car in the coming week and am wondering how bad would it be if i have 2.36" pipping with a stock GSR muffler at the end. Im not worried about losing power and not getting enough gains, i just want it quiet. I have a apexi dunk on the car and its way too loud. I want a stock exhaust note. I also don't want to spend anymore money on the exhaust setup right now, otherwise i would go with a 80mm world sport muffler. So the main point

how bad would it be if i have 2.36" pipping with a stock GSR muffler at the end?

exactly! and ive seen them on cars up to 350+whp! im sure they could have made more power on a bigger exhaust but for a daily driver thats MORE than plenty

2.5 inch exhaust is good up to about 300HP..

3 inch exhaust for 300HP to 360HP

3 inch + for more

I wouldn't be too concerned about the HP losses thru using that exhaust setup.

A LOT of people take 3" much higher than that....3" will be fine for everything other than the 600whp+ setups

this is a joke right? like i said, ive seen 400whp from a 2.37" apexi worldsport and 3" can handle A LOT more than 360hp...

The moral of the story here is this: You can run whatever exhaust you want as long as you're willing to give up power if you want to run smaller diameter.

In Jmm96gsr's case, he can make 284/187 on 2.36" exhaust, but with the addition of a 3" he would probably gain 20whp if not more in the top end...

I run a 3" downpipe, 3" Carsound cat, and 3" KTeller exhaust with a 18" resonator with a Magnaflow SS straight-through muffler.

I don't care what anyone says - it's NOT loud. And I've had about 6 exhausts on my car over the years.

Invest the money now, so you won't have to later.
