Exhaust question (different than normal)
okay, right now i'm running a 2.5 inch open down pipe. I really don't think I'm going to build the engine any more or up the boost (10psi) than what it is right now since i'm planning on selling it soon.
My question is shouldn't it be the same exhaust output if I put a 2.5 inch straight through exhaust with no cat than if I put a 3 inch exhaust with no cat?
I'm thinking it wont make a difference since the down pipe is 2.5".
The only other thing I would add is probably a zex street/strip cam.
TIA

Uh... What?
A 3" exhaust will flow more than a 2.5" exhaust. Doesn't matter if there is a single 2.5" restriction in the system... That's not how gas works.

x2 if what the OP saying were true then putting a catback on a car with a stock header should yeild ZERO gains. which we know isent true. add a cat back to an evo or a supra, its about 10whp.

yeah I guess so,
Man i really wish I would have done thermodynamics in college than this stupid computer stuff.
I was thinking I couldnt get any better flow than how it is right now. 2.5" open dump. But when I think of it the car did have a bit more lowend torque when the down pipe was connected. but it was blowing thru a 2.5"- 2.25" cat-back.

your exh is still expanding.
whay back when i first built my car, it had a drag kit on it and i mated 3" exh to the drag down pipe. i still have the 3" exh from then on my car.
