Exhaust ?
ok how many of you have flex piping in your exhaust off your turbo set-up? and how many don't? i need some suggestions on this. bunch of people been telling to that i HAVE to have flex piping cause i will break stuff. Others tell me that it will be ok! What do you have? And if you don't have flex tubing how long have you been running it without it? And have you hade any problems. If you need this i have a set-up to where i am running 350hp at 15 pounds. Thanks for your help and comments.

Re: Exhaust ?
stock mounts? use a flex pipe. i didnt and i had a lot of exh movement luckilly the hangers took up all of it.
if you have solid mounts, you dont need a flex section.

Re: Exhaust ?
I think there is alot to take into consideration when thining about a flexpipe. My shop promotes flex pipes on all applications. I personally would look at it rofm a specific approach.
How low is your car?
How much weight do you have pulling down on your manifold?
How well supported are the other aspects of your exhaust or supported at all for that matter?
What kind of roads are in your normal driving habits?

Re: Exhaust ?
1. ok my car is stock ride height
2. just the weight of the turbo and downpipe.
3. all exhaust hangers in place and are being used
4. roads are kind of bumpy(i live in alabama) some better than others...

Re: Exhaust ?
I've run mine for something like 30k with no flex section. I had a broken driverside mount that was held down with bailing wire for a little while and still had no problems. I'm not saying its the best idea but it doesn't hurt anything.
If you have the extra $$, why not?

Re: Exhaust ?
ok well they are telling me here that 3in flex piping is around 160$ so thats why i was asking. well another question would a 3in down pipe to a 2.5 inch exhaust pipe hurt me badly or would it be ok? if not i can run 2.5 inch exhaust alot easier than 3 in around here!

Re: Exhaust ?
the down size in exhaust will definently hurt your power. A flex pipe is definently a good investment. Its either 150 for a flex pipe or more if something does break. You could buy an ebay downpipe with a flex section and just cut it off lol. That might be cheaper
