Default Evo 3 manifold on a d16

I've been searching all througout the forums and i would like to know. I want to install the evo 3 manifold on my d16y8 and run the evo 3 turbo as well, will this bolt up? Or does somebody make a manifold with a Mitsubishi Turbo flange?

you could spent a bunch of time modifying that manifold to fit your d series, or you could buy one that will bolt on and accept the 16g turbo.

i have a somewhat non related question: why do you want to use a 16g turbo?

get a turbo/mani/downpipe combo used here on honda-tech or new from somewhere and just bolt it all on, no worries about mating exhaust etc.

whatever man! i own a dsm so watch it.. anyways the evo 3 16g is a very good small turbo. putting one in my friends gst this weekend.. however the 16g will be outside of its efficiency range at low psi. it would be interesting to know if this will fit because i have like 3 spare dsm turbo manis at my house, and finding a d16 mani that will accept a mitsu turbo hasn't been cheap/easy since everyone loves t3s so damn much..

just did a quick look, and i don't think they are gonna fit due to the d engine having almost perfect circles as ports, and the dsm mani being more oval shaped

What d16 head did you look at? The 16 valve heads have oval ports (long sides are flat). The main problem besides bolt pattern is the port spacing. The 4g63/f22a have much larger bores (86mm f22, 75mm d16), meaning the cylinders (and therefore ports) are spaced farther apart. You could probably make it bolt on, but at the expense of having a gigantic exhaust leak. D16 heads have their exhaust ports raised with a ~1/8" lip around them, so #1 and #4 ports would only cover half of the ports.

The only solution I really see for a DSM manifold on the civic is how some guys at HMT forum do it - weld a d16 flange onto the dsm mani and grind away. Look up the STD (civic std/crx hf/civic cx) manifold, and you'll see its almost like the dsm, except it will accept an adapter plate that will allow for a dsm flanged turbo perfectly.

BTW you'll likely find that only the injectors, turbo, and sidemount (1st gen) from a dsm will work on a civic. The downpipe I highly doubt will work, O2 housing might work with modding, and piping would have to be hacked up to hell and back. Besides, unless the d16 is built, you won't get more than 220whp out of the stock pistons/rods before its on very thin ice. A tiny 50trim T3 from a volvo for $75 would do that at a bit over 12psi.

first off, my car is a 2g.. second of all the piping WILL work
if you have ever seen the pipin on a 2g you know that it will work because most of it is flexible rubber hose plus i have some extra 2.5 mandrel bends sitting in my garage.

a 14b will make good power at low psi and they are very cheap. i don't feel like buying a t3 mani, i don't feel like buying a t3 turbo, and i don't feel like buying water/oil lines for it.. i am going to try to make due with what i got.. i am going to go and buy a d16y7 exhaust mani gasket today

you can do the evo 3 by buying an HF Exhaust manifold with an adaptor!
