Default Ever seen a TT set up like this before?

Saw this in a jegs catalog, thought it was pretty crazy. One turbo feeds the other, haha.

I believe some diesels do it because of the smaller a/r response and the multiplication effect of boosting already pressurized air. This leads to extremely high pressure levels from a low RPM. Remember Diesels have low redlines. This would give a diesel a nice big powerband from relatively small displacement.
For a gas powered dragster I don't think it is neccessary, but...

that is a staged turbo system, one turbo for lower boost the other for hi. used to make insane pressure ratios on things such as over-the-road trucks.

one turbo spools the other by blowing boost into the exhaust turbine..

no, you are looking at it wrong. it goes, exhaust-1st turbine-2nd turbine-downpipe. on the cool side it goes filter-1st compressor-2nd compressor-intake manifold.

i believe it is called "compund turbo charging" i believe there was a supra model that had this on it.

also i think this is an upgrade for diesels as well, it helps spoll the bigger turbo

Bingo! A WinnAr is yuO. Or the short version is "compounding". Its how those large alcohol tractor pullers get up in the 140 psi range running 3 turbos. If you ever get the chance, get a close up look at one of those things. Its awesome.

looks cool to me, but i'd think it'd work better with them both running off the same exhaust? maybe?

no, this setup is designed to make crazily stupid boost levels that arent attainable with one turbo. that setup can easily run 80psi reliably if needed.

I was just thinking of that guy. I talked to him for 10mins. Badass dragster. You do a turbo setup like that so you can run like 80+psi of boost.

with this setup boost is fed into a turbo where it is further pressurized. in a sequential setup boost is fed from both turbos into the same charge pipe.

I saw this setup at SEMA in a truck, i think it said it was the quickest diesel in the world. I spent a lot of time looking at it, didnt understand it, but then realized it was a diesel. Pretty cool stuff.
