OK I got the head off..
here are the pics.
a few questions.
do you think that cylinder wall could be fixed just by honing it ?
or would a re-bore be absolutely neccessary?
Does the head look ok? Its got some pockmarks from detonation,
but no melting or scoring like the block..

In this pic(below), you see that other cylinder in the background, does that look like damage to its cylinder wall to you??
Heres the head, close up of the #3 chamber, hows that look to u guys?

no i know, thats what i'm doing.
but i'm going to want to try and sell the head for sure,
and if I feel like building the block for higher power/boost later on I might like to do that.

thanks man.
I looked up their site,
price is untouchable, I had another guy I was going thru but I might
just have to flake on him.

hey it looks like that deal from matt and japan parts isn't going to go through...
i wouldn't either seeing that attarco can beat it like crazy. i thought attarco was in berkeley though? near the campus-ish...
anyway, yeah i wouldn't deal with trying to fix that block, its just way more economical to buy another one. besides, try finding the correct pistons for it, there's mis-information everywhere about our d15b's...
what management do you intend to run this time around? uber?

it wasn't the mangment that blew it...it was the lack of managment after the wire became disconnected.
You should still try to go with something like uberdata though

Exactly,
At 6psi(well mine bounces from 6-7 depending on the atmosphere)
the stock JR fueling works just fine.
And mine is actually upped a bit, with the JR map controller.
but with that wire loose, basically the ecu wasn't reading IAT's at ALL..

Yeah, I called atarco, their d15b is 250, i'm guessing they're going to tax it,
so that makes it 270(even tho their site lists at 225
) they have a location in San Jose. I might end up just going with matt though, cuz he'll shop for a nice clean one for me, and deliver it to my house, for 320.
plus he's a good guy
As for fuel management,
once I get the money, i'm going to run bigger injectors(most likely stealthmode 450cc's), and have it dynotuned by redzone performance. I already have a chipped/socketed ecu by them.
They happen to prefer Crome over Uberdata, so thats what i'll have.
I wouldnt mind tuning with uberdata with myself, but honestly, I really just don't
have the time/energy to deal with that.
And as for the right now, I'm going to run the JR management,
I think i'll steer clear of the high speed runs though..
thanks 4 all the feedback everyone.

Man did u lean out and detonate? Looks like ur pistons expanded but its werid side to side or u got alot of crank walk.and its applying pressure from side to side.
The biggest problem with "jr fmu and map controller" is that it does not pull timing under boost leaving you no room for detonation if you ever go slightly lean.
I just got back from attarco,
they are pretty nice and helpful I have to say,
they have 5 d15b's and let me check em out and pick one out before buying. I looked under the valve cover of like 3 and they were all SO clean! way cleaner than my last d15b.
We'll see what the comp/leakdown results are like.
My last engine was amazing in that aspect.
Btw i'm selling the d15b head and block separately,
also have a complete cx motor,
ac/ps stuff, and a stock cluch fs now
