Default Engine management options?

What options do i have for engine management if i don't want to do an obd-II to obd-I conversion without spending a lot for an AEM-EMS? I know drag kits come with an FMU and check valves but i'm not comfortable with using that.

From what iv learned, theres no point in turboing your car unless your going to get good engine managment. The engine managment is one of the vital elements which makes it work.

I believe that also, but i'm looking to see if there are other less expensive options other than spending $1500-$2000 for engine management while keeping my car obd-II and having a good management system.
I've heard people using Crome, Neptune and Uberdata but do i have to convert to obd-I to use them. If so then i'd go with Hondata but i don't want to do the obd-II to obd-I process.

Emanage...

Why must you stay OBD2...and dont say "emissions" because if you are worried about emissions, dont boost.

Im sure...buts thats kinda what I meant.

I guess I figure paying someone for your inspection sticker is just a cost associated with having a boosted OBD2 car

AEM is a standalone... it takes the place of your exsiting ecu. In order for you to run hondata, neptune, crome, or uberdata you have to be in obd1 mod. You will only get frustrated with all the CELS in obd2 mod. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!!

go to j-k-tuning.com
this guy does a really good job at a really good price.
he will even send your ecu with a stock basemap for your setup.

thanks.

I will just add, that you can always convert back to OBD2 after running an OBD1 ecu for emissions and inspection. You just have to put the stock injectors back in with the OBD2 ecu. And put the bigger injectors back in with your OBD1 setup and you will be golden.

It takes half an hour to convert back to OBD2 for your inspection. That is what I would do with my car if I didn't have some hook ups.

There's emanage and the afc. If you're set on obd2, then I would just get the emanage. Don't get it confused with the blue box either. Emanage is actually programable.

Ditch the obd2 bullshit and run the obd1 conversion harness. When it's time for emmissions simply swap your injectors and ecu... and you are good to go.

I would recommend running the Hondata s300 unit

The words turbo and budget do not belong in the same sentence.

I've been running the "Blue Box of Hell" for a while and have had a few problems with it. No more then I think the avarage tuner would with any program. It's a alright engine management system, but with the odb2 I'm running the CEL's are super sensitive.. I'm trowing one right now to be honest.

Go ODBI and chip your ECU, these programs are alot more verisital and you dont have to go hacking at your wiring harness..

Power FC can also be used as an OBD2A as I have. No codes, nothing.... But it does take you past that $1000 mark that you didn't to go through, so you may either go w/ E-manage or convert to OBD1 and use the other options in that route.

It can work fine. Whoever you heard from probably tried to use it and didn't know what they were doing. Gotta be careful of that "I HEARD" stuff...

I can get the Power FC's with the commander for quite a bit less than $1k if you want to go that route. It'll fit an OBD2A harness.
