Default Engine Builders please analize this blown LS block

I've been rebuilding my friends 96 LS for a while after he blew it up on a last run of the day at the track.
The damidge was totally caused by a deltagate ll wastegate that had the nut inside that holds the valve get totally loose, fall off and initially causing the wastgate to remain closed shut. Creating a condition in which the more gas you give the car the more boost you got.

All I basicly want to know from having you guys look at the pistons and block is if it just totally went lean and blew up or if there was something else that triggered and caused it to go puffffff..??

Here are a few pictures I took of the damidge:

And one just for kix!!

Looks like it shattered a ring. Which in turn took out the ringlands, and the headgasket. I think he just leaned waaaaay the hell out. How's the head did he break any valves? I'd give the block a good cleaning to get all the ring fragments out. also take apart your oil assembly and water pump to check for fragments. Or just replace them. I'm sure you knew this already. Next time get a Tial WG.

I would say that the lean air/fuel wiped out the ring lands. The ring lands are usually the first thing to go on stock internals that i have found. One ls block and one b16a block of mine fell victim to cracked ring lands, the ls having a boost spike and the b16a having to much boost ran all the time (18lbs, stock internals, pump gas, alot of timing retard for 4 months).

Well the head was basicly fine besides some shavings stuck to the combustion chamber on the head. Everything has been cleaned by now and I have replaced both the oil pump and the waterpump because of shavings getting into both parts and damidging the surfaces especially the oil pump..
Oh yeah, I did get a Tial WG on that thing right away...

You know what thou I find it amaizing that the car blew up because it was running so darn rich, from the git go It had a cartech fmu cranked all the way open, NOS inline fuel pump, RC310 injectors, AEM fuel rail and filter housing.
It was so funny because it would smoke black from idle to high rpms all the way through with the safc set to like -40% all the way through..

But I guess when you go lean you go lean and blow up!!
