EK intercooler size
trying to pick a intercooler... Got a 96 hatch... I'm trying to keep it as sleeper as possible. Putting together a LS turbo for around 250whp to start off, 57 trim.
I'm wondering how well these will fit.... I dont mind chopping the bumer a bit but dont want to over do it. I like the mishimoto ones due to being powder coated black.
first option: Core Size: 20.5" x 6.25" x 2.25"
second option: Core Size: 23.5" x 11.75" x 3"
anyone run the smaller one? about what whp would it start to become inefficient?

Re: EK intercooler size
With the second option, you're going to have to cut out the bumper support or get rid of it. The first size is similar to a Precision 350 hp intercooler, except precision is 3.5" deep and has probably more fins. I would say the smaller one will work for the smaller hp you're going for, but I would try to get a precision intercooler. I love mine and will never go back.

Ya I picked up a precision 350 hp one for $150 in the marketplace in good condition. They're great intercoolers and you can go over 350 without raising the IATs with them. I made 401 whp on mine.

I showed this in another thread somewhere, but here's what the new anodized intercooler looks like.

Nope, those are anodized. They don't use the best anodizing materials, but it works for mass scale production. I know this because there were several Mishimoto intercoolers (both standard and black) that we reanodized for a different project. When they were stripped we could tell the process they used.
