i checked the temp on each runners on the manifold with a ir-temp.
cylinder 3 was about 30-50C hotter on the third cylinder,
in neptune there is a fuel cylinder trim, should you give that cyl some more fuel som it wont go hotter than the others?

you need some sort of egt amp for it to work<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by steven_highet &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">You can just buy a sensor and use S300 to datalog your EGT's and see what you EGT's are doing in reference to A/F, Timing, Load and so on. Makes it alot easier to see it graphed out than to watch it while driving.</TD></TR></TABLE>

I am setting up individual cylinder egts on my motec and the only reason for it is for individual cylinder trim while thecar is being tuned.

For that i see egt as being helpfull.

ok i have a question regarding overall engine temp and tune. before my car was stolen I had a stock b16 on 7.5 lbs and hondata s200. fluidyne radiator flexalite fan.

during the summer over 90 degrees my car would always try to overheat, especially on the highway. the only way i could regulate temps was by regulating egts. I would get up to speed (watching the EGT's climb) then let it coast till the EGT's dropped a fair amount. as soon as i engaged the throttle again the water temp would drop about 10 degrees..

i would just have to repeat this over and over on longer drives. Do you think this is due to the tune or what?

Sure about this? In my ICE classes I learned peak EGTs generally occur at about 10% richer than stoich.

We appreciate the comment, but this was 9 years ago. This person hasn't posted in years. EGTs aren't measured in the same way as AFR in terms of "rich" or "lean" by percentage. The temperature only points to what is going on with the condition of the engine by way of the spark plugs. In rotary engines that ratio changes due to the characteristics of the rotary engine itself. So, don't look at your % example as a complete rule.

Few people even run EGT gauges now. They simply pull the plug every time the car makes a complete run on the dynamometer.
