EGT probe extension wire?????
hey guys.
i have my manifold drilled and tapped with a fast acting EGT probe. the probe itself has a 4-5 foot lead on it with the proper terminals etc...
i need to extend it just a couple more feet to reach my zeitronix widband controler for EGT input.
would it make a diffrence what kind of wire i use just to extend it a couple feet? its away from heat and such so the cables wont melt or anything. but would using ordinary 18gauge cable for a short distance mess up the EGT readings? or does it absolutly have to be the themo-coupler(sp?) wire that everyone recommends.
i would hate to have to buy a 6+ foot extension only to have to hack it up anyway..
thanks

so what can i use as a small extension wire for EGT hookup?
some guys say i "might" be able to find some thermocouple wire at home-depot. they use that type of wire for the thermostats on natrual gas fireplaces.........think that would work??

Im not an electrical wizard but I would think any good shielded wire would work. Voltage is voltage right?
