For most programs you have to remove the jumper at J12and add a 4-pin datalogging header at the CN2 port.

That's the jumper at J12 that allows full duplex operation.

Yes, Take out the jumper resistor.. has a black stripe on it, and insert a 4pin header at CN2. I will try to find some pics.

I'd appreciate it.

I've got to go back and find the threads so I can find out what cable to get again.

The cable attaches to a 4-pin header at the CN2 port. Just look to the left of the middle casing and look for a resistor called J12, it is white with a black stripe. Just desolder that.

Where can you get a 4-pin header? I think one had come with my uberdata kit, but I wasn't sure what to do with it and now I've lost it.

Thank you.

What do you have to get for the end of the cable so that it'll plug into that correctly?

edit: I've been thinking of the USB way of doing it, not through the COM ports. It should be essentially the same, though.

thanks again.

Just a matter of how soon I find a laptop to use will determine when I'll actually set everything up.

Has anyone identified another cheap datalogging cable thats easily available now?

I really miss the days of the $10 radioshack nokia USB cable for datalogging; I bought all the ones up in my area and now they're gone I've found one thats around $25 that should work...

I remember seeing some guy on ebay selling them for $10 or $15. Why did they stop selling them?

Supposedly, some of the Sanyo cables work. I'm not 100% sure though... Either my Prolific 2303 drivers got corrupted (entirely possible) or those cables don't work worth a ****. If you're going to spend $25, might as well get a USBMOD2/USBMOD3 with the FTDI bridge chip - it's infinitely better. (Or a Moates HUlog, etc.)

Do you have any info on where such a kit can be found? I know of the Moates kit and the xenocron kit thus far...

ask google... they're demo modules for the FTDI USB bridge chips that Moates, Hondata, etc. use. I believe Saelig sells them (http://www.saelig.com)

It doesn't look like it.

If it doesn't and you don't want to order a header you can cut the wires and just solder them into the board. Only downfall is that you won't be able to disconnect the cable when you're done with it.

Just wanted to point something out with the J12 dealio. If you are using Uberdata you do not cut the jumper at J12. If you are using CromePRO then you need to cut J12. If you are using Hondata I *think* you also have to cut J12, but I'm not 100% sure. I dont know what you have to do for Turboedit, Neptune, or the free datalogging software (I think it's called?)

Uberdata is the only software that requires J12, but I have actually had it working fine with it removed too, atleast I think.. But hondata does require it to be removed.
