Re: ebay turbo kits (mannyfresh1.8)
Stay away from SS auto chrome. I have heard nothing but bad things. However, I do know they sell Greddy kits on there. They are nice. Also there is a Turbonetics kit that should be nice, but I have never had any personal experience with one. Maybe someone can back me up?

When it comes to ebay turbo kits, you get what you pay for, if you look up ssautochrome and some of their knock off brands you will find lots of horror stories. If you stick to well known brands you should do fine, good luck.

if you dont have the cash to buy a top dollar turbo kit...wait a while save up some cash and piece your own turbo kit together...sometimes its cheaper that way....just keep searching...and keep asking questions...youll come across some deals.

The SSautochrome turbo manifolds aren't great. But I've used them on low boost set ups and they work fine. I'd consider them, if you're not the serious enthusiast.
The turbo itself is pretty worthless, cause the seals on them tend to go out pretty quick.
The wastegates work perfectly fine.
The BOVs work prefectly fine.
The downpipes are fine.
The FMIC are fine. Held 20psi so far. We'd push it more, but the motor it's on isn't going to hold anymore boost then that.

don't go with a kit with no-name manifolds, or ones you never heard of. they are prone to crack. be carefull with the turbos to, i have seen a few poeple that have had compressor housings actually split in half. you should try to look for a familiar brand that is used

why in the hell are you boosting a d series, that's what I WANT TO KNOW. God, I found a B18B for $750 on ebay and I've had no trouble out of it for the entire year I've had it. I'm boosting that, but God I would NEVER boost a d-series. Sorry, but that's a WASTE of money. Swap out the motor and then go boost. ACK!

I bought a cheap ebay turbo kit just to mess around with cause it was cheap. And yes they are cheap. I re-tigged the manifold after the turbo flange broke off and then sold the kit. Save your money and get something good like peak-boost or full race. Well worth it in the end!

Thats a pretty bold statement considering you didn't give any reasoning behind it .Boosting a D-series is a waste of money? You obviously haven't educated yourself on the potential of the D-series motors, comments like that without any facts at all get a big :thumbdown
