Has anyone bought or know anyone who has bought an ebay turbo kit. I'm trying to figure out what the deal is with them. They got these fat kits for $800, comes with everything. Here is the link to one of them, let me know what you think.

i was unlucky enough to have to install one of these kits last week. oil line leaked, downpipe shot into the radiator, manifold was cracked before it was even installed! intercooler piping wasnt even remotely close to fitting, "bolt on" intercooler didnt come close, dump tube didnt fit, no instructions, no fuel components of any kind, no fittings for wastegate, tons of missing parts.

i wouldnt pay 50 bucks for it.

Did you ever buy anything from them? What's a good kit that doesn't cost too much?

ssac= **** not worth the hassle. Sure its cheap, but seriously dont u think everyone would have a turbo kit if they where that cheap and good quality.

Build your own, or buy one from a place like cheapturbo.com etc...

there isnt really anything that is cheap and good. the best thing to do is piece together a kit. unless you come across a friend selling a good used kit. just remember:

cheap and fast isnt reliable
reliable and cheap isnt fast
fast and reliable isnt cheap

i think thats right.

if their **** is so poorly constructed why do they still have a good rep on ebay? they are like 98% feedback rating, so is everyone who bought a turbo kit or any ss component not leaving negative feedback or is it just the unlucky few that were sent garbage?

because 98% of the people post feedback as soon as they get the item...NOT before they install it and have problems...

I say that if you were looking at a ssac kit and didn't know not to stay away from it, you definatly need to research the subject. Words to stay awayfrom, ssautochrome, xspower, fmu. Good parts arent usually that bling-blingy

true. they can, but most dont. Most go, "OOO, I just got it! wow that was fast shipping! oooo it's sooo purty wow, lemmi go leave him feedback and tell the world how awesome he really is!"

and THEN 3 weeks later when they get it installed..."dammit! why did I leave him positive feedback and the turbo blew up and he wont return my emails! argh!!"

Seems like all of the negatives/neutrals you see on their feedback ARE of the people who wait to install and end up with problems and no support from them...but because of the HUGE amount of positives and no feedback sorting feature it's really hard to find them by going through all of the pages manually.

Just went through the first 30-40 pages and here are some feedback comments for SSAutocrome on Ebay(these are the neutral/negative comments):

-fast shipping, good intercooler, but pipes do not fit the car n no instruction
-part did not fit, will not contact me back, project went to pieces
-Got wrong intercooler and seller won't answer any emails
-nice kit but NO OIL LINE NO COMMUNICATION!!! BUYER BEWARE!!!
-Didnt recieve items advertised in auction, will not respond to email...deception
-none of the piping fit turbo hit the block had to fabricate everything to fit
-got intercooler, nice piece, wrong size tubes
-THE KIT IS NOT 100% COMPLETE ( SSAUTOCHROME NOT RESPONDING TO E-MAIL)
-Customer Service was good, but product did not fit application
-i've send like 10 mails about the wrong (to small) silicone hoses, no answer yet
-Fast ship, well packaged, but exhaust flanges are warped
-Turbo & Manifold Fit but Downpipe does not, very disappointed.
-missing parts, terrible customer service ! will not respond to e-mails
-100% stainless steel my butt. put a magnet to that crap and tell me its ss
