eagle vs stock????help
Eagles/YCP Vitaraz FTMFW Mang! (bought my last set from FJT,and only way to go boozted) Great guy as well, takes time to answer ?'z ya might have if they're intelligent, lol See his website fjdistributors...
Don't think Eagle makes pistons... Anyways, the stock D series rods are toothpicks. For 10psi and about 200whp you should be ok. If you going for more then its a no brainer. You will need to notch the block and possibly the girdle for the rods to fit however.

On the left is eagles, on the right is a stock DOHC ZC rod. Which would you like to be in your boosted engine? In some cars, stock rods make sense. Take RB26's for example. They're beefy, forged, and super short, able to hold quite a bit of power with some good bolts in them. I would never re-use a set of D-series rods when they're so cheap.

ty for the help. i just figured eagle made pistons. and i had heard that d rods were good for 250 whp and to have them shot pinned (spelling). im not sure what to do when it comes internals. im looking to run at least 12 psi. i know it would be better to run the forged bottom end but if it will be reliable on stock then im all about savin money. i just wanted to get a few opinions. also i hear forged **** is heavier then stock i.e. more power transfered. im also looking for some flat tops so i can have a lil power while im working on my kit
how much will it cost to get your stock rods shot peened?? probably 100.00.. thats 1/3 the way to a nice set of eagles that have been tested/trued/beat the heck out of for years.
Actually, quite a bit has to do with the weight.
The heavier the piston, the heavier the rotating mass. Each time the piston is TDC it has to change direction and go down, right? So the heavier it is, the more stress it puts on things like bearings, rods etc.
For example, Formula 1 engines spin to such high RPM's because their internals are small and very light, therefore decreasing the rotating mass. Thats what it's all about with dependability. A Dodge Diesel only rotates to max 3 or 4000 RPM because the pistons are like dinner plates.
So there is a fine line between getting strong (possibly heavier) pistons and getting weaker (lighter) pistons.
Just a bit of my .02

A set of eagles aren't even 400 bucks. Pickup some OT shifts at work or something, I just wouldn't dick around with putting forged pistons on stock rods in a D-series.
