E-tuning ... its possible!!
well, awhile back...after a long research and planning, i finally got my motor assembled. nothing fancy. just a gsr motor, w/ piston and rods, sc61 ...a few other goodies. when it was time for me to figure out how to tune it, i had been in and out of contact with mase. I didnt want to attempt to tune the beast myself, although i have a good grasp on the theory and i have messed around with crome and some others.
I wanted to fly mase up, but the more we talked, when it was time to get the car up and running, i paid mase a couple bucks to help me get the car up and running, I ran the s300 w/ plx wideband. boy was it easy. that damn thing started up and ran wayyyy better than expected. he had me send back and forth datalogs and map tracing results of partial throttle.
time went on as i broke in the motor, and was till trying to figure out how to get mase up here on his busy schedule, and my broke wallet. Mase had told me consults with a lot of people, not only on setups, motor builds, but he told me he's tried some new things...basically 'e-tuning' some cars mostly to get them running. but i asked him with his help, if he could tune pretty much the whole thing.
he told me the afr wouldnt be hard to do, but the ignition timing, that would be tough cuz he wasnt there.
well low and behold, we started off conservative. running 7 psi at first, he did his magic, over the internet. next thing i know, i have a car running perfect 11.8-12's in full boost, and getting 300 miles plus on a tank of gas. he was able to give me a safe but powerful tune.
well later on we slowly worked our way up on boost, i kept an eye on the spark plugs, even gave some pics to the man to take a look, i took responsiblity for the motor even tho he was helping me by dialing everything in.
i took it to the dyno to do some tuning on 16-17 psi, and that damn thing ended up making just over 400 whp. let me add that he took control of my desktop on the dyno being able to view the dyno charts, he was able to fully dyno tune it
mase is the man, and its amazing that technology has come a long way to enable someone thousands of miles away to get my car from not running to running better than a stock car!
so if you have a great engine management like hondata s300, other helpful tools, laptop and wireless internet, a great guy like mase, and a little bit of knowledge, you can obtain some pretty cool stuff.
Ill post some dyno charts when i can figure out how to host them.

i hate burning chips, you get so spoiled with the s300,
i cant tell you how nice it is not to have to deal with chip burners, romulators, all u do is plug in the usb and go at it...
thats why i went with the hondata platform. datalogging is much better than crome as well

simply amazing.. Ive NEVER heard a bad thing about him.. Maybe he can visit vegas to tune my miata.. Or can just catch him on his vaca here!!!
He's one of the few people that just by reading about him gives total confidence in his work and to let him grace the car with his skills..
Is the skills all of it? Or is it the way he makes you feel safe and secure that your car is gonna be bad *** when he is done that takes the worry away from letting someone mess with your $$$$$$ project?

The thing that could make it 100000x better would be if you guys set up a remote desktop program and HE could actually tune it from his computer. now THAT would work wonders and really make things easier for ppl getting their cars tuned and for mase, so he doesnt have to travel.
Maybe thats something mase can implement into his tuning....awesome job though mase

Nothing....BMW guys have been doing this for years, it's just new to the Honda crowd.

the things that amaze some people that don't know any better. send data logs, simple equation between actual afr and desired afr, make adjustments to map, send new map back, repeat..........

that is what he did, sorry if i didnt make that clear.
he had control of my computer when we were on the dyno. it was a tad slow, but he was able to view each dyno run, and make the changes accordingly, mostly to ignition timing since afr was done from datalogs and on the street. all we had to do is watch the spark plugs and run the dyno
