Default Dyno results

326whp - 255ft. lb tq @ ~ 1Bar
Tuned by Jordan @ Modern Automotive Performance (MAP) in Plymouth, MN

stock GSR head
Skunk2 Pro-series IM
304SS topmount manifold
3" dp w/ 3" flex
CP Pistons 81.5mm/9.0:1 cr
Eagle H-beam ESP rods
Cometic 81.5mm .051" Headgasket
Open-deck blockguard
Turbonetics T3/T04E (50trim)
ACL rod & main bearings
ARP rod bolts / head studs
ACT Xtreme PP/6puck unsprung disk/12# fw
Koyo radiator
27" x 9" x 3" FMIC
RC550 injectors
255lfp Walboro fuel pump
S300 P28
AEM UEGO WBO2
Innovative Mounts

Short block was built by D & G Motors:
overbored .5mm
honed
decked
hot tanked
line honed
balanced rotating assembly
oil pump ported/blu
water pump ported
blueprinted

turbine was rebuilt by Diesel Components, Inc.:
sandblasted
intake side ported
hot side ported
new seals
new shaft/balanced

As you can probably see, the turbo is reaching it's maximum capacity even though the motor is capable of more. High end fine-tuning is also needed, but I'm waiting to break in the motor.

I'd think that turbo would have more left in it, but judging by the decrease in torque after 5250, i'm not sure what to think. Power numbers are good and i'm sure its fun on the street...

Yeah.. I'm not sure what was happening to the torque band, but even if the turbo was capable of more, how much more is the question.

I've only got about 180 miles on the fresh build, so we'll have to wait until maybe spring to get another dyno session in after i get ~1500 miles in.

The motor is capable of pushing 20 psi, if not more. I'd like to rebuild the head with fresh valves and springs too, but that will need to wait. My daughter is in school now.

why do you think the turbo is at maximum capacity? I'm sure it has more left in it. How much power was it gaining per pound of boost once you got up around 12-15psi? Was it significantly less than at the lower boost levels?

I don't have the graph from the 8psi pull (288whp). I can see if my tuner can send me a copy. Maybe that might help to determine the power gain.

I guess we'll see what it can do with some more fine tuning on the high end. I'd be interested in seeing a higher output, even if it's just 350-375whp.

dude that turbo definatly has more in it that that.. You should be able to hit the 400HP mark with that setup.. Top end is probably dieing from not enough timing up top.. If you want to send me your map I'll look over and it give you some pointers.

for a 50trim i think the numbers are spot on if not a tad high, turbo does have some room left, just not a whole lot...

I agree with others. That 50 trim turbo does have alot more to it. I will be running a 50 trim on my semi-built d16. But two thumbs up for a MN fellow.

With torque dropping off steadily, I think its more of a restriction somwhere. Given it has a decent IM, I'd think the exhaust is killing you. When I dyno'd my dirty-D setup, it was a small 50trim T3 with stock cat * exhaust (1 7/8"!!), and it did the same thing. Peak torque at initial spool RPM, then a steady drop. It even had a full 3" DP before the cat...

i don't think it's the exhaust. the 3" dp goes to a 3" flex pipe to a 2-1/2" Apex'i N1. Cat has been removed.

Bugermass could be right with the timing maps at the high end. I told Jordan I wanted to keep this fairly conservative until the motor is broken in, and he agreed.

It's good to hear from people with experience that this turbo has more potential.

like said, the numbers are pretty close to what they should be at the boost level you are at. If you feel your tuner is competant dont be afraid to push the motor a little...

The exhaust is a restriction. The 3" DP and flex might as well be 2 1/2 sicne thats the bottleneck in the system. I dropped .3 and gained 3mph in the 1/4 going from my Apexi N1 to a open dp with no other mods.

how about an e-cutout to have a quieter exhaust then an open dpipe at the switch?
