Default Dyno: GT35r, Pump Gas

ERL sleeved block
8.8:1 Wiseco pistons 84mm
Manley rods
crower springs/retainers
assembled by myself
bearing clearances by Sander
hondata S300
3 bar map
880cc injectors
3 inch DP/EX
exhaust manifold is a honda-tech company. wont say the name because it didnt fit AT ALL. made oil return nearly impossible, waste gate had to be cut off and relocated, would only allow for 2 inch charge pipe on hot side.
2.5 inch charge piing on cold side
edelbrock intake manifold
stock throttlebody

distributor didnt work right off the bat. changed it out with another and everything was good to go. boost and chart were wavy at first...found boost leak internal on throttlebody. fixed that.

car made a little over 400 whp at 20lbs. wasnt too happy....car just seemed like it needed bigger cams. i made some cam gear adjustments and re-synced ignition timing. picked up 35whp. dialing in ignitoin timing at the same boost level picked up nearly another 20.

car has no so awesome tires, doing pulls in 3rd gear started to develop some wheel spin once we got up in power.

will probably run the car in the 350-400whp range for daily driving. i have done several cars lately in the 450-475 range on pump that havnt had any reliability problems, however i do suggest keeping it around 400. nobody listens though

customers original power goals were 450whp. car should be a blast to drive.

B16? B18? Why did the customer want such a low CR? Still looks to be a blast as a DD once everything is checked out

Because low compression ratio for a street driven car that sees pump gas 90% of the time is the smart thing to do...

8.8:1 is the shelf stock piston from Wiseco for an 84mm B series , it is not low by any means, most people run 9:1 ish and you will not feel the difference between 8.8 and 9:1 anyways

I use that exact piston on 90% of my street builds.

i would think a gt35 would have made more power at less boost on that motor.
i made 400 on a built ls SC61 on 19psi

i guess my 10:1's are no good then huh tony

Granted my car never saw that power, it did see the road track and autox several times and I just took off my turbo setup at just under 20K miles. I never saw anything other than 93 octane and I boosted between 12-15 psi every day. I also have a 9.9:1 CR and it is still kicking and screaming as my DD.

I just wouldn't choose a lower CR motor as a DD because lag, but that is me. Thanks for your experience and wisdom answering my question.

yes these are the shelf stock wiseco pistons that we use in every turbo street motor we do.

the reason i dont want to name said brand is i didnt buy it and i dont know the customers relationship with the company. also, i assume this is one of their older manifolds b/c what i have seen from their newer stuff, it seems a lot better. if he wants to bring the manifold maker into it than he can, but the second that happens this thread becomes worthless and it will be 34 pages long of this manifold vs. that manifold. the biggest problem with the manifold is you can tell it was built on an engine stand.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by blaze the chemi &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I just wouldn't choose a lower CR motor as a DD because lag, but that is me. no difference in lag with low compression, just slightly less power off boost. 35r on an 84mm doesnt have that problem. as you see in the charts peak boost is reached at 5500-6000 rpm or so, but if you hit the gas at 3k the car still has *****. i really like 35r's on street cars.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by tannerLSt &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">

so another 70 horsepower with 1 lb of boost isnt good? i think with a set of cams we could get the car into the 450 range with a few less lbs of boost. a throttlebody wouldnt be a bad idea either.

if it wont hook on the dyno, it surely wont hook on the street!! the car will probably be faster in the 15lb of boost range. the cars still strapped on the dyno right now, we are using s300 for boost controll so i'll set it up with differnt boost in each gear which should help.

cars like these make me want to build another street car for myself stupid race car lol
