Dual BOV's
I picked up the newest copy of D-SPORT and in there they had a 600+ whp eg civic. While looking at the shots taken under the hood, I noticed he had two Greddy Type-S BOV's. What is this all about, does it associate w/ high hp setups? I've never seen anything like this.

maybe because its the most over applied term too... i see more and more of it, it's what gives us import guys a bad name (or on the bright side makes our sleepers even more dangerous )

Re: Dual BOV's (LSEGHATCH)
this is a common practice on high hp supras and yes it is because of the volume of air they flow...usually they put one bov near the turbo and one near the throttle body to quickly let out all that air
it is not neccesary on most set ups but when you run a very large turbo, a lot of boost, and a lot of power it can be helpful...on a 600whp civic he could run one tial or something else larger than a greddy type s but either way works

not in all situation
different BOV"s are good for different applications.....
say, someone has a 400whp supra, and they are running an HKS SSQ...ok, that's fine
now, they toss in some 272's and an EMS and a PT88......you tink the BOV is gonna work fine now at around 1000whp? nah...it won't. well, options are either going to something like the huge Procharger BOV or something like a turbonetics Godzilla....and spending about $400...or just get another HKS for like $150 off someone.....and spend the other money on some race gas

i dont think it's rice at all... you guys get 600hp and see if a single greddy type s can handle all that air!!
maybe he likes the squeaky noise it produces, so he just got another one.
it's kinda the half *** way to go because he could have gotten another bigger one to cover for the extra air and just use that one alone... but he just got another bov which serves the same purpose

dual wastegates are used for the same thing.
alot of people DONT realize the flow path of exhaust and why wastegate positions are so important. i know alot of EQUAL LENGTH STYLE manifolds have issues with this.
on mine i use a 6psi spring but with no boost controller it runs a perfect 10psi, because exhaust has trouble branching off 90 degrees the opposite way.
so the higher boosted cars, usually above 25psi runsomething like a dual tial 40mm wastegate set up to ensure proper boost regulation, because it is moving that much exhaust ut needs a place to go.
just like using 2 BOVs, it is needed to expell all that air. but if you look at where they are used it is almost always on something more than 500HP. not a 250hp civic

Re: Dual BOV's (mrbsponge)
Well my setup now took a turn for the upper hp side and I'm thinking about selling my type-s, but when I saw that this guy had dual type-s bov's. So what works for 550 - 600 hp setups, will one ssqv do the job or is there a better alternative. From what I hear, the type-s doesn't have the best sound so whith aggressive sound in mind along w/ performance what works?

he is running 2 because the Greddy type S doesn't flow at all, that is why it whistles. It compresses air into a small area then releases it. Why do you think Greddy has changed the RS noise, because now it actually flows. Just think of it this way, running a mile while whistling vs running a mile with your mouth open.
I have always hated the way the type S and HKS SSQV sounds, never really made me think of power, but that is my own oppinion.

the higher the boost the better the hks sounds, it just dumps the air when its high boost. like a slap in the face.
and for the guy saying TIAL sucks, LOL on you, thats a first for me EVER. my tial 35mm never spikes, creeps, nothing nada, never HAS!!! even with a manual boost controller. EVER!
