Downpipe Questions AND custom setup review
I am in the process of putting together my custom turbo kit, and I have run into a few questions. First this is what I am planning:
MAX REV STAINLESS STEEL TURBO MANIFOLD (z10 Geoff)
GARRETT T3 TURBOCHARGER (off e-bay)
TIAL 35mm WASTEGATE
HKS SS BOV
CUSTOM DOWNPIPE AND INTERCOOLER PIPING
SPEARCO INTERCOOLER
HONDATA 2B STANDALONE
OBDII TO OBDI ECU HARNESS
P74 OBDI ECU
RC ENGINEERING 440cc FUEL INJECTORS
NGK BKR7E SPARK PLUGS
AUTOMETER ULTRA LITE BOOST PRESSURE GAUGE
AUTOMETER ULTRA LITE EGT GAUGE
AUTOMETER ULTRA LITE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE
Now for the questions:
(1) In deciding how to make my intercooler piping and downpipe I have searched the boards. Everyone says, just go ahead and let a muffler shop fabricate the pipes for you. How exactly does this work? It seems like the car is going to be pretty much ripped apart and undrivable during the installation. Am I supposed to do some measurements then communicate these to the shop? Or am I missing something?
(2) About the T3, I am hoping this is going to be a good turbo for me. I am not a Drag racer, I just want my car to be faster. I thought it would spool quickly and stay in boost better with my B18B. Am I right?
(3) Other than oil lines, and vaccum hoses, am I missing anything?
Thanks

What you can do to make a intercooler template is to use pvc piping from local plubing hardware store. What you do is make all the bend and neccesary things then take that mold and go to the muffler shop and tell them to make you exactly that.

Re: Downpipe Questions AND custom setup review (b18bturbo)
Get everything monuted and ready, run all your lines, etc, then take the car on a flat bed to a muffler shop and have them do it.

Re: Downpipe Questions AND custom setup review (b18bturbo)
I assume it's for a teg, if so I have the full drah kit here in my living room, I can possibly give you direction on what are the angle and the length of each section pipes for the IC pipes.....I was building out my custom kit and I stumbled on the piping, so I want to help as much as I can....
let me know, after you have the diagaram, you can either order some bends from burnstainless or jcwhitney and and have muffler shop weld it together or you can just connect the bends with silicone couplers...

Re: Downpipe Questions AND custom setup review (flamenco)
Thanks alot, I am not ready to install yet, I still have some important components to buy, like the turbo, haha. But if you could post that, or e-mail it to me I am sure it will be useful in the future. Thanks,

Just order your U or J bends along with some couplings and go at it. You can do it yourself with out welding, just use more couplers. You can have them TIG'ed together later after you get it running if you don't have the means to weld them yourself.
