Default Downpipe to oil pan clearance issues.

I've got a Vitara/Eagle built D16Y8 with a Turbonetics .57/.63 60 trim t3/t04b and a 3 inch stainless downpipe. My concernces are that the flex pipe portion of the downpipe is touching the oilpan.

Since it is the oil pan will this be okay if I try to wrap the **** out of it with heat wrap, or is there a high possibility that I might shatter my oil pan(it's aluminum BTW)?

i had that problem and i just flattened out the top of the DP with a hammer to make a small gap. the flexpipe touching the oil pan causes and exhaust ground which will cause an odd vibration and have bad long term effects on the motor. i tried the heat wrap too and it just made it worse.

Why would anyone put the flexpipe that close? Mine never go on before the axles, even when using a cat. Its just wasted ground clearance, and in this case - an invitation to disaster. One good speed bump and your oil pan will say hello to your stud girdle.

It was a prefab'd downpipe and my oil pan is aluminum so I'm doubtful that it will say "Hello" to my crank girdle. It'll probably just shatter.

What kind of long term effects do you speak of?
