Default Downpipe help! UPDATE

I finally got everthing together. The manifold fits great and there is plenty of clearance between the wg and the ac condenser.

My problem is with the do. The dp hits the ac to the point where the flange doesn't sit flush with the turbo.

I have two options (more if you guys can give me some opinoins)

Option 1

Cut at the red line and reweld.

Option 2

Cut off the flange and add more piping to the downpipe to extend it. That way, the flange will sit flush and the red are will be the new piping.

Any help or opinoins?

Ps. I rock with microsoft paint

one looks easier....but two would be better....the exhaust wouldnt have to take as tight of a turn...i bet the differenc is negligable, but it's there..

That's a good point. Another problem with option 1 is that I would not be able to put on a bolt on the bottom hole. There wouldn't be any room. However, the other 4 will be on so would that be much of a problem if I left one off? Thanks everyone.

Can you use a spacer of sorts between the block and the AC Compressor and just use a longer belt?

Then just install it normally.

i would go with opt 1, the thing with the screw would be simple, all u would have to do is cut the head off of the bolt, and tighten the threaded part into the turbo, and perhaps use a nut on the dp side, and tighten that one down before the rest, i dont think opt 2 is a good idea, if u add more piping, that will leave u with the dp still resting on the ac. imo, opt 1 is the better choice.

Thank for everyone's help. I spoke with Matt, who was very helpful and he's willing to do what he can to make it fit. However, I am trying to avoid sending. However, hulkhb's option 3 did cross my mind. Other than a small dent, how much would that effect airflow? It is a free alternative.

I like the lose the AC button. Its over rated. Lower the windows, let the car rip, its nice and cold.

it looks like if you remove the ac compressor, install the downpipe, and reinstall the ac compressor, it looks its only have problem passing in compressor but once installed it will work.

easiest thing would be to start whacking. Itll affect airflow only slightly and get you on the road relatively quickly.

Just hammer the pipe a little to flaten that spot out.. You wont even notice the .0005 horsepower loss.

will you do a favor for me and measure to see how much space there is between the turbo and the ac compressor. i believe itll be like 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 inches. please let me know, cause im looking for a downpipe and that looks like a good one, i just wanna see how much space it needs.

Here's an up date. I gave mr. downpipe a date with ms. hammer and this is the result. I was worried but when I looked in the dp, there is a small dent about 1.5" in diameter and no more than 1/16" - 1/8" caved in so it turned out pretty well. Everything fits great. Now the hard part is to fab the turbo-ic piping while keeping the fogs. It looks like I'll have to follow the red line I drew in below.

Flip the intercooler around so that the intercooler ports (holes) are at the bottom instead of at the top. Make it much easier to fab up some pipes!

If I do that, I'll have to give up the foglights. I know it's alot of work just for some lights, but I would also have two huge holes in the bumper right where the fogs would be.

It was Matt from onefab. Good guy to deal with and the product turned out really well.
