In all honesty, you can keep the MSD cap but would get rid of the MSD SS blaster coil and get something like a MSD HVC II coil and the M&W Pro 10 Ignition box. T1 sells a badass harness for it to which makes the install super easy and clean. Thats what I run on my car and it works like a charm! No more having to worry about your stock ignitor taking a dump on you either.

M&W 10 is over $1K, and others can be used.. You can use the MSD 7A Digital, mallory Hyfire Digital, or even the Summit racing digital ignition (Mallory in a different box cover) with the equipment you have. The ignition box is the most important part of what you picked up.

Yes its expensive if you buy it new, I bought mine off a member on here for $500 with the HVC coil. There is a Pro10 kit with a Crane Fireball coil in the Drag Racing classifieds for $550 if I recall. It may even come with the harness but I cant remember.

That's my understanding. I'll be running the summit box on my build. Turbo-LS makes an ignitor bypass box, so check that out too.

MSD 8235 could work
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MSD-8235/

Mallory Ignition 30440

MSD HVC Coils are good, though a bit more expensive.

Thanks for the shout outs on the ignitor bypass box fellas! I know 1320em1 moves out pretty nice with some good spark now. Seen it inaction. nonvtec kickin some asses in San Antonio !

OP follow what people are telling you in here and you will have a very reliable ignition system. Mac aka theshodan turned me on to that summit digital box and ever since ive been trouble free for several years now with the bypass and a crane ps92 coil. you can get the bypass from me or from that other dude either way doesnt matter. you can even build it your self if you are good with soldering and electronics. Mine comes in a sealed enclosure and deutsch connector

Because this phenomenon is not HP-based, as many are led to believe. Just because one did a few pulls or some street running on the stock components at high levels doesn't mean it'll stay that way. This way, he can keep the components to work longer and better than performing duties such as continually decreasing plug gap, (thereby keeping his plugs longer with a more efficient spark) replacing distributors (in which the ignitor and ICMs are god knows how old), etc.

OEM can work.... for a while, depending upon use.

I recommend a MSD digital 6 ignition, MSD blaster HVC2(the blue one) to go with that cap. Been running those 2 pieces for many years with a MSD pro billet distributor.
