my bad my burothas
it's a oem charcoal canister
cut the top off, gutted the inside except for the metal ring with triangle openings (seen in the pic) ditched the ring with the holes)
top is off a pickle jar. fit is super tight
oem pcv
copper tube piece attached to pcv in can
super fine steel wool in bottom 1/4 of can, some inside tube piece attached to pcv
vacuum nipple cut of from metal connector between valve cover and intake arm.
botom of can already has a drain nipple. the nipple is rolled so i could cap it with a rubber plug. i also threaded the inside of it i want to plug it that way. perfect tap fit is 12x 1.25. very hondalike size.
cleaned up everythin. jb weld to the work.
voila! will update when put in use.

not to poopoo on your thing, but...I went to "Bed Bath and Beyond" with my mom, when I was home, and saw these nice stainless steel soap dispensers and a couple brass fittings later, I have a brushed steel catch can in my car I'll try to get a pic up. The manufacturer of the dispenser is "OGGI", I recall.

i believe the whole idea of the catch can is to keep oil in the oily vapors from recycling in to the engine. i guess wheel see on the steel wool. i'll check it after two oil changes and i'll see how the drainage from the can looks. thanks for the heads up. what is that shiny thing, that's so bling bling?

Call me stupid or whatever but what does the catch can do to help out? I am new to this type of stuff. I might be intrested in making one if I knew how it helped and stuff. I love making my own stuff.

Re: DIY catch can : check it out (flat-blk-HB)
it just runs inline after the pcv valve to the intake manifold, not the valve cover. you should not use a breather on either as they need a closed vacuum system.
the pcv valve's job is to release excess pressure from blowby (gases that get pass the piston rings into the crank case) in the form of oil vapor from the crankcase. this oil vapor 1. makes the intake dirty and 2. can lower the effective octane rating of your fuel mixture increasing the chance of detonation.
its really not necessary unless youre running boost, but since i spent all that time cleaning the stinking intake its a shame to let it get all caked up again. it doesnt hurt, and i plan to turn to the darkside very soon anyways

i made this one this weekend. i got the bottle from REI. its like a lightweight powdercoated aluminum or something. it was $10. then i just picked up some barbed fittings from home depot and JB-welded them. here is the result:

Steel wool will rust and turn into a real nasty rusty powder once dry. I hope that doesnt recirculate back into your oil...

Re: DIY catch can : check it out (LiLOtaku)
i heard the vapors entering the intake manifold on a boosted car would help detonation... so i was told that running an open loop catchcan is best for a boosted car. line from pcv to catchcan with a breather filter and using hte intake manifold vacuum source for bov and other accessories... anyone can back this up?
btw. GOOD JOB ON ALL OF THE CANS! i have a can myself

if you put a breather on you open the vacuum system, like poking a hole in a straw. i remember seeing some dry sump configurations with it tho.. try searching on the web for 'dry vs wet sump'
