DIY 3" exhaust
if you know how to weld, is it that hard to remove the stock piping, and piece together 3" piping? Or do the welds corrode quickly?
Anyone know how many Mandrel Bent U Pipes and extra piping would be necessary to complete an Integra LS?

Check out vrs exhaust, they sell piping kits made for your car. I bought my S.S. 3" pipes for $200.

Piping kits aren't listed on site, but just give them a call.

I've had to cut and reweld a thermal 3" in a couple of places to make it fit my car. I electric mig welded it and it's holding so far for about 6 months. The welds still look fine. I heard if you coat it with high temp spray paint it will last for like 3 years or something, then reweld??

We just finished my 3" exhaust from the header to the muffler using a thermal muffler and it was not easy. It took us two days but we had to make the curve over the axle and everything. I used 3 90 degree Hedman bends and one 4ft length pipe from jegs and 4 flanges and gaskets etc etc. Overall it was worth it.
I do believe SS rusts...just not as quickly as aluminized piping. All the HKS Hiper, Greddy, and Apexi mufflers I see have started to rust...unless its just tarnished. The magnaflow that comes on Bushur Racing's exhaust for DSM's is alway a shade of brown when I see one.
I have heard stainless rusts, but never have I seen it rust. Before I went 3" I had a SS Magnaflow in 2.25 for over a year without a spec of rust, even where they welded it to the mild piping.
my greddy has surface rust but only on parts where the paint has come off...(near the flanges).....along the pipe itself..looks liek it did the day i bought it(just dirty

whoaaaaaa guys... ok the definition of stainles sis that it has chromium in it which does not allow it to rust. When you see a neglected stianless product looking dark and brown and ugly that means it has *corroded* not rusted. All you need to do is clean it up with some polish or even bead blast it and in 20 mins its gorgeous again!!!

you know i figured that it didnt because for some reason i thought about my kitchen sink which is SS. We had that since we moved in the house and prolly since who ever lived there before us. But i guess it isnt exposed to the elements like our cars.
