Default Distributor issues: ignition breaking up at VTEC/Max load?

Well had some more tuning done today, all was excellent on the dyno. No problems whatsoever. So we head out for the street, no changes made from while on the dyno. Driving along (in the rain ) everything seems fine, until I get a stretch of road where I can open it up a bit and get into some boost. Roll the throttle from around 3K, VTEC set around 4800, as soon as it hits VTEC, it studders violently, almost as if hitting a rev limiter/2 step. Shift to the next gear, everything seems fine. Try another gear, roll into the throttle, same thing happens right when VTEC/boost/max load is reached. Make changes to the map, nothing is helping.

W/B is reading really lean, but the maps check out ok, no lean spots, even tried another computer with a different map, same **** happens. Checked plugs, wires, fuel/ign maps, sensors, computer, cap/rotor/screw, vtec sol, all seem to be ok. Throw it back on the dyno, same **** happening. WTF? Out of nowhere this thing starts screwing around. After more time spent decide to swap in a different distro. BINGO. Works like a champ. Pull apart the bad distro, no real visible signs of a problem anywhere. Tuner thinks the coil may be shot.

Anyone had similar issues with their distributor? Car drives fine while just putzing around like normal.
