Dirty engine make over.. Take a peek
Well I picked up a stock b16 for $400 (and it was dirty), so I could drive my car while I finished my build. I decided to see if I couldnt throw down a budget turbo set up to keep me boosted while I wait. I had a bunch of stuff laying around so I threw it all together.
I picked up a greddy downpipe mani and turbo for $150 the downpipe was such trash I built a 2.5 inch one I think I will have the motor in the car next weekend!!
Enjoy

It looks like it's coming along. What car are you putting it in? What moderate hp numbers are you hoping to pull?

That does look nice. I just got done doing the same thing with my b16 (except I got mine for free ). I painted my block with high temp paint after I cleaned it up as good as I could. Did you paint yours?? Good luck with the project.

i like how a Type R valve cover and some cleaning can make a B16 go from gay to sweet.

Well I didn't paint the block I started with some simple green and sprayed it down let it soak. I then waited about then minutes and hit it with a wire brush and then hit the motor with a hose, after that it was all tooth brush and some elbow grease.

Shure b16 may suck now but show some respect to the engine that started it all

I use this engine cleaner that only Pep-boys sells. Forgot the name but it's in a black can with the words STEAM on the side of it. Very good stuff.
Very nice man, and is that paint on the Manifold or High temp coating?
But man, those B16 Auto cams gotta go. It's like non existent for Vtec.

I'm still impressed with landing a running b16 for 400 bucks. Wish I could catch those deals. I can hardly ever find good heads for 400.

I have some CTR cams I could throw in there, but then I guess I would need some valve springs! trying to keep it cheap

When i did that to my engine i just used a wire brush i picked up at good old Home Depot. alot of elbo grease Then i realized i had a compressor so i picked up a air tool and put a brush on that.
That engine went from POS to bling bling

Re: (.R T E r n i e)
I used a brass brush this way it didnt scuff the block up to bad. most of the webbing though I used the tooth brush.
