Whats the difference in between these two turbo kits made by the same company for the same engine? The price is $500 cheaper. Also the one for the eg uses a 15g turbo, while the one for the ek uses a 19t turbo........ Whats the difference in between the 2?
I'm pretty sure the only difference in the 19t kit is the size of the turbo and it comes with 310cc injectors. By the way, I have the 15g kit on my 98 ex. It bolts on fine.
The only difference in the kits is the size of the turbo. The 19T is the largest TDO04 you can get. Not a huge difference over a 15g, but enough that I would shell out the additional cash for it. The 19T kit also comes with emanage and the 310 injectors. Its overall a better setup. Both kits will bolt onto any of the 92+ single slams.
Isn't it true that the piping is different though? Supposedly, you have to drill a hole under where the stock airbox normally sits, and the washer fluid reservoir gets in te way. Correct?

The charge piping might be slightly different. I used EK charge pipes on my EG and they fit perfectly fine, so I can't say for sure. There is probably a provision for the intake temp sensor on the 96+ 19T kits also in the charge pipes. Thats all I can think of in terms of possible differences.

There is already a hole under the stock airbox. The washer fluid reservoir is on the driver side so it will not get in the way of the piping that comes with the kit. The piping that comes with the kit is not designed for use with an intercooler. It goes straight off the turbo to the passenger side fenderwell, up the whole, and to the throttle body. Of course, if you decide to use the front mount you could probably make use of the piping in the kit.

Ya I was saying that because I personally have a 15g kit with their intercooler that's going on soon...
I don't think that hole is there on my car though, only on EX's (y8) I believe. I have a y7 hatch.

The hole is there. If you remove the stock airbox there is a pipe going down that hole into what I believe is another box behind the bumper.

Okay you made me go and look for myself...it's not there man, I knew I remembered reading that. You need a hole saw to cut a hole (duh) where the piping goes. I'm pretty sure that the hole is there on 96+ EX's and 92-95 cars though.

Well I learned something new. You could just run the run the piping like they do for integras, then you won't have to cut.

How do they run it? Does it go alongside where that hole would be, like along the body there?

The hole is most certainly NOT there on the Y7's. It is on the EX and SI chassis.. not on the DX/CX's. I had to cut the hole on my friends 97 hatch as well.
Emanage comes with the new kits...check their site again man.

How would the 15g kits blue box work with my y8 engine? Isnt the blue box for obd1 and e mangae for obd2? Also wont a smaller turbo have less lag? Will a 15g kit completly work with my y8?

Man, they must have JUST started this. I saw it like a month ago and it didn't list the emanage with the 92-95 kits. Oh well. Blue box was *** to begin with.

The difference in lag between the 15g and the 19t turbo is so minimal you probably could never even measure it. The 19T will just allow for slightly higher hp numbers. Nothing too special.
Blue box is ***. You need a good standalone IMO if you want a reliable setup. Check into Crome or Hondata.

The blue box is discontinued. Both the blue box and emanage work for obd1 and obd2 - <U>all</U> new greddy kits come with emanage. The blue box from the 15g kit will work fine on your y8, since the injectors are the same size. All it does is add a set amount of fuel for the stock 15g kit boost setting (~5-6psi?). If you boost higher than the stock psi it will be a little more lean, and the opposite if you boost less. At the stock setting it's very rich though, so you can get away with like 10psi or so. Also, yes, a smaller turbo will have less lag than a larger one - the 15g is small and tends to fall off a bit towards redline. It will work on your y8 though, that's what this whole thread is about...

We get your point. No need to use the bold print. He could have an OLDER 15G kit in which case he still has the blue box and still wants to know if it will work or not.

Will I need to get a boost controller or is the turbo already set at a good PSI? Also whats a godd BOV at an affordable price? Should I look in to getting a new clutch as well? Wats a good clutch that wont bust my bank?

I figured he had an older kit since he asked about it, and that's why I gave out all that info. As for a BOV, they all function similarly so pick one that fits your budget (an oem dsm one is cheap). There is a new one by synapse engineering that should be coming out soon too (revolutionary design). As for a clutch, you don't need one at 5psi, but at 10+ you should get one. The action 1ks is a good clutch for moderate power ($380), and it's kevlar so it should last a long time. Spec brand clutches also seem pretty nice, and you can get a stage 2 (kevlar) for $299. Hope this all helps.

The 15g will work completely with your y8. I'm running the 15g kit, including emanage on my y8.

I'm currrently running a fake greddy type s and it's holding up fine. Others have also had luck with the ebay bov's. You'll want to look into getting a new clutch soon but it's not completely necessary. I'm still on my stock clutch and I've been turboed about 6k miles. Of course, if you like to drive your car hard then it won't last very long.

If I get the Greddy kit, plus a EGay intercooler, what reliability can i expect out of my engine? I have a 97 Civic Ex with the original Y8 and 74k miles on the odometer. I want the engine to last me at least 6 more years without problems, and be able to take and survive long trips. Also what numbers can I expect with a good tune?

blue box is (was) vehicle specific. emanage comes with a basic setup ( jumpers dialed, etc). the emanage also has a vtec controller. the charge pipes are SLIGHTLY different, but with a little love they work just fine. as for the turbo, the 19t is the largest td04 mitsu turbo. at high (stock) compression, the motor is only stable to 10psi ( wastegate is sprung at 5.5psi). that in mind, either turbo is sufficient... and honestly both have about the same spool charecteristics. if you've yet to order the kit... they can be ordered with an upgraded 18g ( or 20g) which will bolt to the same manifold.
as far as turbo size, i have the greddy 18g on my b16, and am able to to spool under 3k, and can achieve full boost ( 14psi) by 3800. you can expect similar results with a td04 turbo on a d series .
