Default difference between a built b16 block and a built b18c block?

Is there a difference between a 84mm sleeved b16 block and a 84.5mm sleeved b18c block? i would think they are pretty much the same , correct?
also a built b16 head and a built gsr head? would it make a difference?

well the deck height is different ,so i would be making alot more power with the gsr block ?

With all other things being equal, yes. 1.8L > 1.6L (most of the time, anyway)

You can never go wrong with a B16, but I am a little impartial. Well a 84mm B16 is right around a 1.8l and a 84.5mm B18C is a little bit over a 2.0l. Overall the B18C would make a little more power

If both setups are identical, I doubt the b18 would be making goobs more power than the b16.

I'll have a pretty close comparison in just another week or so. I am having my car retuned after having to put new pistons in and then I will make a post about it. I can compare it to my friends 83.5mm B18C with 9.5:1 Pistons, and SC61. Mine is a 84mm B16 with right around 9.5:1 pistons, and GT35E. Setups are very similar.

B18C has a longer stroke than a B16. Also the B16 Head CC is 42.7 and the B18C Head CC is 41.6.

what pistons are you using to get 9.5:1c/r? Must be custom made??

not worried about the head, cuz it will be a b16 head either way and i dont think the head will make too much difference except the compression. Just wonderin about the 2 diff blocks with the same head.

No using JE Pistons (part number 185919). They yield a 10.5:1 Compression ratio in a B20, but putting these into a B16 after factoring in the head, stock headgasket, rod stroke, bore, etc. compression ratio comes to right around 9.5:1-9.7:1.

The head does make a bit of a difference because if you put a GSR head on a B16 block then you raise the compression by a few points (.2 I believe), and if you put a B16 head on a GSR block then you will lower the compression by a few points (.2 or .4 I believe; let me double check on that.)

I think you have it backwards....I know using a B16 on a GSR shorty, lowers c/r (using GSR pistons and OEM 3-layer HG)

B16 are for real men! Thats the only difference really...

But like Brian (bulldogg83) said, the b18 will make more power because the b16 is missing that extra 10mm of stroke compared to a b18c or 12mm when comparing to a b18b block.

But the advantage is that you can rev it about 1000-2000k higher than the 18 motors.

Don't be like me thou and get yourself wraped up in a taco johns tortilja (i can't spell, thank you) and get a 85mm, start out with 83mm so you have a few rebuilds left in your sleeved block.

so what would be the rev limit difference of the built b16 head vs the built gsr head?

none

rev difference would be noticeable in the tranny's (B16/ITR vs GSR) though

you guys have seemed to forget to mention the oem factory block girdle that connects the 3 main cap on the b18c, plus the biggest down side to the b18c ever is that it uses a different oil pan, pita if u ever need to get one
