Deltagate wastegates......question please help
right now im trying to setup for boost.........and have a local offer for a deltagate wastegate for 150 how good is the deltagate.......i heard they spike....whats up//?should i get that or buy a tial38mm?thanks
The Deltagate is ****. If you're planning on doing anything approximating serious boost, you'll want to invest in a nicer one.

Wrong. If you change out the fitting that comes on the side of it (approx cost is $.99) then it works flawlessly.
However, $150 is too much for a used one. Might as well get a used TiAL one for that price. I paid $88 shipped for my deltagate.

My bad. Let me rephrase that. "A stock Deltagate sucks wiener,". Regardless of any fixes you can do to it, I advocate the Innovative Minigate over any other street application wastegate.

We've had problems with the Delta II in the past (like when we first started playing with turbo motors ~3 years ago... Lane's motor was overboosting right and left and we had no clue what the problem was)... Then when Scott (CrazyCompression) and I pulled off his Delta II and discovered that we couldn't even make it dump (felt like a 19lbs spring when it was supposed to only be a 7lbs.) we swapped to a Tial and have been using them ever since... On a high boost setup they'd probably work fine... I just don't actually know since we haven't used the forever... Just my $0.02
I beg to differ. Deltagate wastegate on my b/f's 240 boosting 15 pounds, making well over 310RWHP.....and not a problem in sight.

I got my "Deltagate" for 125 with all the springs..I later found that it is a Racegate and not the regular deltagate..So it should hold boost nicelly w/o boost creep problems.
A Deltagate will not go near my motor. I have witnessed this wastegate spike more than a couple times. The most recent was turbosi03's Deltagate spiking to 14lbs. His ringslands and sleeves were no good after this.

LMAO!
I have blown a GSR block because of the Deltagate: 20psi spike, I don't recommend it either. TiAL all the way!

well i took mine apart and looked at the diaphragm. sure enough its worn out at the edges of the plates which sandwich the diaphragm. here are some things i would do to it
1. if not using a boost controller, run a line from the hole on the top to a clean place in the engine bay, or even put a filter on it. i would just plug it, but i dont know how it would affect performance. the point is to keep dirt out of the chamber to keep the diaphragm clean.
2. port the boost inlet hole a little from the inside. if the other guy meant a bigger fitting helps, then a porting would as well.
3. smooth the sandwich plates on the edges. they feel pretty smooth already, but thats where mine split. a dremel or file should work.
4. make sure when you tighten down the cover, the diaphragm is as even as possible, even it means boring out the pre-punched holes in it more. any uneven stretch will cause more stress on that edge. the splits on mine were opposite of eachother, say from 11 to 1 o'clock, and 7 to 5 o'clock.
well i hope that helps any of you that are stuck with it.
someone said they dont stock or sell the diaphragms anymore?
is there some other type of silicone nomex we can source elsewhere? the tial ones seem different, and 59bucks a pop. greddy's are 70$! they both probably include new sandwich plates..
anyone have disassembled pics of a tial? id really like to know how they improved on turbonetic's design. heres the tial replacment diaphragm:
