Defi tach question...
st00pid just installed my Defi tach (nice install!) but it's acting a little weird. When I get up in the rev range (Into the "big sweep" revs -- It's one of those 5k-11k has a bigger sweep than 0k-5k RPMs) the needle jumps around a lot. It's not a smooth sweep up to redline. It rattles and jumps and causes my shiftlight to go off prematurely. Anybody else have this problem? Did I get a bum gauge, or might it just be something dumb like a bad ground somewhere?
Yah! The DIP switches are configured to 4-cyl. I mean, it reads the small sweep range of RPM's ok. But it seems that the higher I rev it, the more the needle wants to jump around. Hmm maybe RF noise? argh...
thats the worst guage to run for TACH.. it sucks major ****.. I could never get mine to work right as well. Finalyl swapped it out for the autometer with playback.

What type of problems were you having with yours? I was thinking of selling my Defi's and getting the Blitz DC series gauges.
The only problem i have is with there tachs. They jump like hell after 5k rpm the stepping motoro drive is what suppose to minimize that but its way jumpy
That's precisely teh same problem I'm seeing
You mean it's supposed to do that?!? Mine is tapped into the blue tach wire near the extreme driver-side part of the firewall. I thought that's where yer supposed to pull the tach signal from? Yeesh, I might have to return this thing then.
