Default Darton Sleeves MOD3 pics

Here is the pics Dan (93Lsivic) sent to me today. This is my engine which he is building for me. I just had to share the pics with everyone. I am really excited to get this beast back up and running. Here is the pics of the latest design Darton Sleeves installed on my block. Thanks Dan

These were installed using a CNC machine. This helps make the sleeve install perfect so there is no sinking or leaks. I highly reccomend Dan for doing Darton Sleeves.

Looks perfect. What is the diameter of the bore you chose to go with?

81mm was going to go with 84mm but decided to stay stock bore.

just a question. if you have iron sleeves, is the block guard needed?

Nate if you wanted to send that this way I'd be more than happy to accept

I need to get up there and talk with you about tuning.

Can't wait to see your setup too

Just out of curiosity, why is that a smart move?

I say smart move because on stock bore you have room for error if something happens. my 81mm bore type r block can now be bored to 83mm since the valve tore up the wall. if i was 84 or 84.5 i would have to resleeve. i dont see the extra gain in 3mm personally.

at 84 you'd have to resleeve to? Couldn't just go to a 84.5 or 85?

on mine i had to go 2mm over so at 84mm you would have to go 86mm which i wouldnt run on boost. my point is, i dont think the gains are worth it to be honest. I think its all hype. the piston is heavier, it doesnt rev as well, you can make 600+whp on stock bore so why add the risk of going to 84.5mm?? doesnt make sense to me. if you are going for 750+whp then sure do what you have to do but i doubt most of the poeple on here are looking for 750 whp. my .02

Exactly. My goal is 350-400whp. I don't really think that going to 84mm was worth it for me.

interesting design, but one thing I noticed despite the efforts of Dart to modify the top of the sleeves to allwo for better flow is still a water flow issue.(not a slam against NATE so please no flames) While they left around 1/4" or so from from the top of the deck to the spacers and added more holes, they won't properly aligh up with the head holes thus making it hinder good cooling effrots. Now if they had left it alone at level heigth, then added the holes that to me woudl have been a better idea over all. I see what is now is the potential to have heating issues at the top of your cylinders much like a block guard would cause because of the sleeve design.

That's just my comment on the sleeves themselves. They coudl perform just fine and not have a single issue. I don't know as I have not seem them tested yet.

The reason they had to lower it is due to propriertery design by AEBS. AEBS holds the patent on the top deck design therefore they had to lower theres anddrill more holes. They also included a groove between the sleeves for addittional cooling across the lower portion of the sleeves.

intersting, so there are actually gooves in between the sleeves themselves for water flow? Does anyone have picturers I woudlr ally like to see this design and see how well it would truely flow.

ok looking at the sleeve I wonder how much flkow it gets in those grooves. it woudl be nice to get a good test of one of those blocks vs the stocker units to see how well it compairs.

i used both design old and new and the newer ones compared to stock just run fine about 190 degrees on boosted application some times in traffic it gets up to around 205-210 but the fan kicks on and brings it back down. to normal level. Stock blocks run around 170-190 range depending on what radiator you have
